The Dune Jihad is well made.

I do think, however, that if you care to get the hang of tables, which take about an hour, I reckon, you'll use that instead :P

That happened to me. I used frames because those were easy to create in those web page builders like Frontpage and Dreamweaver, but when I learned the tables style html coding I totally stopped using frames.

Dune Jihad! uses frames, but the background is so seamless that you don't notice much. :D

And incredibly I do not use any HTML programs and have not used one to create a real website. Just notepad as it doesn't add garbage coding.

Will Experiment with tables on a website. Once I fail I shall ask how to stuff :P

Ok, I have been playing with tables, and it seems to be much better than frames. The only probem though, is if I change a coding in the contents or top part of a page, I have to manually do it for every single webpage. Now that would get tedious. :(

Also the bad thing is when you scroll down the page, you lose the contents/top thing, which means you have to scroll back to the top to go to another page.

Can you put comments in it?!?!!?? It doesnt seem to want to let me. It makes 1/2 of it not show up.

Sadly, tables doesn't seem as good as frames. :O Except it uses less HTML pages by a small amount.

It's natural that when you scroll parts of the menu will dissapear. However, it's more normal that if you have a left hand navigation bar or something that your page does not exceed the 1024*768 pixels most people use.

To include the navigation bar on each page is quite easy, but you must use php. If you're interested in learning how, I can show you.

Yes I know you just have to copy and paste the navigation bar coding into every document. But if I change the Navigation or top bar any I would have to change it in every document.

I'm thinking I will just stick with frames for now. As my navigation bar etc will be changing all the time and I don't want to have to edit every document every time I change one thing in the navigation bar. :)

I can put classes in frames also. But what if I wanted to add a new link in the navigation bar? Or change the wording or the way something is spelt. I dont think Classes can input text can they? ???

Unless that's what you mean.

Just to define a class:

A class is a set of functions which can interact with both eachother and the client.

You have a source file called:

Navbar

for example. And that class contains the code for printing the navigation bad.

If you know how to do it, it's very simple  :P

Most web sites use that method. However, the frames method is also accepted, but very little used.

I'm not saying your website is bad looking, because it's not. I'm just telling you your opportunities  :)

And that class contains the code for printing the navigation bad.

What do you mean printing the navigation bad? ???

My guess is by next september/October I will switch over to whatever.

I plan on doing a family hsitory website for my family that dates back to 1800's and include images and such this summer. I started the layout for it, but can not do much until I get all the material for it.

Also learning php seems a bit too hard ATM.

I'd gladly help you understand it better.

And, by the way, navigation bad was a typo... It should read navigation bar.

You must excuse me, I'm most ill at the moment and a bit dizzy :(

Well is it possible to add <!-- and --> tags in tables? I have it in one file but it screwsd up the page completely and if I remove the <!-- --> tags and content in it, the page looks normal. :-

Odd I have <!-- and --> in another page at the top and it works.

At least the problem is solved now :)

I'm just starting out learning to use Tables. May use it in a new website I'm gonna be starting on Family history, or for a friend's band website.

Ok, so I have been making some changes to my website the past few days.  Trying to give it a whole new feel, and also adding tutorials and whatnot.  anyway my problem lies in the new opening page I have created.  It's a simple animation that plays and then a button appears for you to enter my site.  My problem is the animation tries to load frame by frame, so the first time it appears EXTREMELY choppy.  Does anyone know how to put a load bar so that it will load the animation before it plays it?

any help is appreciated. thanks

and my site is here : http://home.earthlink.net/~slaphapy5/

I may or may not be updating it, so if it's not working or something is really off, It will probably be fixed really soon.

What software did you use to make the animation? Not sure you can do loading bars with .gif files.... but I think its easy to do in Macromedia Flash and create a .swf file instead... although this may annoy people who don't have the flash plugin, but who doesn't have that these days anyway  ;D

BTW, the tutorials you have are awesome!

I made it in Ulead .gif animator... then i loaded the animation into Imageready to slice the link to enter my site... I have no idea if this was the best way to do this, just what I thought to try.

and thx. (hopefully I will get some better tutorials out soon, i've only done these cuz i was sick and bored out of my mind)

Ok, well I tried making the animation again as a flash.  Problem is, how do I include the link in the flash picture? i can't open a flash animation in image ready to slice the link button.
