Can't say I'm a know it all when it comes to military things, but here goes...

Karl Martel- Frankish king, put a stop to the Moorish troops at Poitiers. Without him muslims would probably have conquered all of Europe eventually.

Julius Ceasar- well he's one of the best generals Rome had, but I dispise him greatly. He pretty much destroyed the Republic all by himself, and is a mass murderer. Well nobody's perfect.

Michiel De Ruyter- Dutch admiral, destroyed the English fleet in their own docks in London, using only a band of fisher boats.

Napoleon- duh

Emperor Justinianus- was emperor of the Roman empire not long after the fall of the western half. He restored much of it, but mostly due to highly reliable staff. I'd mention his chiefest general instead but I forgot his name...

Of byzantine generals of Iustinianus' era you ment possibly Belisarius, tough he wasn't main, he was like Patton. He didn't care much about higher orders, but at least he always won...

Richard the Lionheart - Gained many victories for the crusaders during their holy war. also I believe he was undefeated.

dunno the name, but the german general who planned the invasion of France during ww2 I believe was one of the greatest.
