The basic idea, if I recollection serves, the Arab thinkers expanded on it greatly. It's kind of like "inventing" bread but claiming later to have been the inventor of pizza. It's more, from less. Of course I might be mistaken, since I haven't read anything pretaining to this in ages.

Well, I wouldn't go for certain on the words of a physics teacher... but I do know that India developed early ideas regarding it, but Arabs were the ones that really made it into an exacting science.

the arabs expanded a lot of thoughts from others. Greeks and Indians. though they created the numerical system we have on their own I believe.

still the links I got were of no use. will use my mathematics book then and find it. though there is only info on greek and european mathematicians there, no arabs.
