Anyone know where I can find some info on the history of mathematics?

This is hard to say, which discipline do you want?

general history. a little about each of the periods: ancient greece, arabic mathematics, european renaissance mathematics, and perhaps modern mathematics.

Well, Arabs pioneered algebra... perhaps you should look up something of an Early Arab Technical History.

The basic idea, if I recollection serves, the Arab thinkers expanded on it greatly. It's kind of like "inventing" bread but claiming later to have been the inventor of pizza. It's more, from less. Of course I might be mistaken, since I haven't read anything pretaining to this in ages.

I might be mistaken as well, but my physics teacher insists that the concept of algebra originated in India, even though the arabs get credit for it.

Well, I wouldn't go for certain on the words of a physics teacher... but I do know that India developed early ideas regarding it, but Arabs were the ones that really made it into an exacting science.

There were a famous Arab mathematician was Al-Jabr ! It's because in french, the same word for mathematics is "alg

I know where the name comes from, but being named for an arab doesn't rule out Indian involvement in early theory.

the arabs expanded a lot of thoughts from others. Greeks and Indians. though they created the numerical system we have on their own I believe.

still the links I got were of no use. will use my mathematics book then and find it. though there is only info on greek and european mathematicians there, no arabs.
