Ok all you comp masters, i have a AMD athlon Xp 1600+ right now, gforce 2 ti 64 mb ddr and 256 mb ddr ram.

What im looking for is to do a 3 step upgrade phase, wich will go like this:

Phase 1) Motherboard & Ram (new comp case maybe too)

Ok, im soo out of date on motherboards so i would like youre help to choose me one out.

Note that i will continue to use my old processor until phase 2. So that means i will be using AMD(now and in the future), socket A motherboards were they if i remember.

I will be buying all my stuff through looking at the my local web portal about computer stuff.

Heres a full list of all motherboards available

http://www.hinnavaatlus.ee/products/Arvutiriistvara/Emaplaadid/

heres a full list of socket a motherboards

http://www.hinnavaatlus.ee/products/Arvutiriistvara/Emaplaadid/?TypeID=133

I will want l8er on a AMD 2700+ or 2800+ processor so see what fits with it plz.

And Ram, i will want a 512 mb for starters, i will buy maybe l8er another 512 mb but for starters just 512 will do it.

here is a complete list of RAM available

http://www.hinnavaatlus.ee/products/Arvutiriistvara/M%E4lud/

And i also might need a new comp case, they dont cost much so i could afford a new one too. The problem with my current one is that the damn thing is WAY NOISY, i hate it. I really want something that makes VERY LOW NOISE.

Forgot to give u a link for cases here we go:

ok this would be the end of phase 1.

Phase 2) Processor (and cooler maybe?)

this will probably happen around 1 month after phase 1.

That would be the time for that AMD xp 2700+ or 2800+ processor.

Heres a full list of AMD processors (including XP's)

http://www.hinnavaatlus.ee/products/Arvutiriistvara/Protsessorid/?FirmID=274

Ok i understand theres cooling issues for processors, and my old xp 1600+ cooler wont do it,so a new one has to be bought.

Here is a list of coolers (this list is by companies, if u click on a company it will show you there avilable processsors)

http://www.hinnavaatlus.ee/products/Arvutiriistvara/Jahutid/

Now theres one more issue, im not total noob in constructing a computer, however ive never installed quite new motherboard (wich dont seem that hard and i will do it), but from what i understand installing a new processor will be hard? especially the cooler part? So Anyone knows a good processor and cooler placeing abc site or would like to explain it youreself would be very good!

If im totally misunderstanding and putting in a new motherboard is really hard, please an abc on that would be good too.

Something else too, is there something i have to do in BIOS after putting in a new motherboard? RAM ? If so, what it is? I dont really wish to clock anything or screw something up so the less mess BIOS would be good.

And Finally

Phase 3) New Graphics Card

This is probably 2 months after phase 1, so its quite far for now and ill come back to this l8er.

Anyways, hers a full list of graphic cards

http://www.hinnavaatlus.ee/products/Arvutiriistvara/Videokaardid/

Ati 9600 series are affordable (9700 and above are pretty expensive, Gforce 5200 and 5600 are afforable as well)

But in 2 months prices can change and as i said ill come back to this.

Overall, if theres something im missing here, something i should watch out for, any good tips etc. You are most appreciated to say them.

Thanks in advance to anyone who will help me out here.

Alright, some general comments:

Memory:

Try and see if they have memory with CL 2.

Power supply, get at least a 400watt power supply !

As for the graphics card, I still would go for the GeForce FX series, no matter what anyone says. I'm a Nvidia fan. I currently have the GeForce FX 5600 256mb and it hasn't let me down yet.

As far as installation goes, check out this thread, maybe it'll help.

Well the 400w are like 3x expensive than the 300w

Although i found this

Chieftec Mediumtower 360W PFC DX-01W "Dragon"

It was only 2x more epxnesive, and in a review it said its almost as 400w.

Nyar, anyways, what are the benefits of the 400w?

Abnout the RAM, there were some Corsair CL 2,0 also were almost 2x as epnecive as the ones b4.

The benefit is, that once you add more equipment in the PC (more powerfull video cards, cd/dvd/cdrw drives), you won't have any problems. With less power, some compenents might stop working (from own experience).

About the memory, Corsair is worth the price, you won't regret paying more for it.

Try and get a Qtec 500 Watt gold PSU,they are really good and cheap !

The benefit of a powerful power supply ,is that modern graphics card take alot of power,

If you look at my signature, you will see my comp components.

If your looking for a fast comp, then this is it.

I have mine overclocked by 30% running at 29

bjesus!!!!

2 x 512 mb of corsair = half the money i planned on spending in this upgrade!

Lol im on a budget here, im not a millionare so i cant get them. Maybe 6 months from now when there cheaper.

I will get that 360w case.

So i wont be having some high end ultra comp, nor do i have really big need for it, just a medicore or sumthing.
