Emperor Installation - WTF is happening?!

I have a problem. When i install Emperor, it gets to 99%, says that it is creating the shortcuts, then quits. I tried the game on a friends computer, and it should go to a screen with 3 choices. On mine, it just quits.

When i try to run the game, it freezes my comp.

:'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Specs:

WinXP-Pro

PIII 667MHz

192MB SDRAM

32MB ATI Radeon 7000 Series

6G-ish HDD

I have norton 2003 installed, but not running. Same with Nero Express.

Any help will be appreciated...

*forgot to mention - i changed cd drives and it still doesnt work[attachment archived by Gobalopper]

Have you installed the SP 1 service pack ?

Also you have to completely uninstall Norton before installing Emperor.Check out the tech issues Norton thread.

Another note is your comp is very slow for a game like Emperor.

i regret to inform you that even if you get emperor installed on your computer.... it will crash and lock up on you often.....

because your system specs are dangerously low..... i would not even consider multiplayer if i were you.

no, my comp only says its a 667... ;) it actually outperforms my friends 1.3GHz! lmao either hes crap or im good...

another guy i know runs emp on a 650 with no lag. Besides, i wasnt even thinking about multi, only single. Ive finished dune, dune 2, and dune 2000, and i want to finish this.

Hang on, ill try kiling off norton. Ive never used it anyway.

Nav isn't very compatible with Emperor and several other games.

I would advise you though to get a firewall, especially when your online on a forum etc.

I recommend McAffee Firewall version 4.0 or McAffee 2004.

Whats the deal with nav?

Norton and EA have been notified about this issue. Apart from an automated thank you, they not seem to be interested in getting it fixed. All we can do now is recommend Norton users to switch to McAfee.
