AIDS must be number one on the desease scale, since it kills so many. Second to it is probably cancer. But what is the third one?

I'd like to think it is Tinnitus. That is also the worst thing that could happen to me, at least now.

Tinnitus is really not a desease, but it is. It's hard to explain. It is a noise or sound in your ear, a constant "beep". Probably very irritating, and I even heard Mozart (I think) had it, and it made him insane.

It even gets worse. There is no cure, or any operation, that can make it go away. Once you get it, you have it for the rest of your life. Everytime silence occurs, you are in great pain. Sleep isn't easy either.

There are some things you can do to ease it. For example, you can have distracting music, because the mind can only consentrate on one thing.

Anyways, I have a kind of suggestion. I don't really know if it a smart one, or if it would be considered by scientists. It is simply an operation that will make you deaf. On one hand, you loose all hearing. You won't hear ANYTHING on that ear for the rest of your life, or until the artificial ear is invented, which can take some time (I'd like to think such devices will start appearing around 2010). On the other hand, you will get rid of the sound, which is at least something. However, I consider this operation to be the last resort, only to those that has a high volume of the desease (a high sound), and that really feel they'll go insane if they don't get rid of it.

My questions are:

1. Does anyone here have it?

2. If you do, would you consider my "advice"?

Are you referring to worldwide or industrialezed nations? (when numbering aids and cancer)

If industrialized then I would say cancer as 6 people I knew died of it last year. (5 in last 2 months) and I don't know of anyone with aids or died of it. But of course that is a geography thing for me. :P

And I don't know anything about tinnitus. :(

I think u all are wrong to put AIDS on the first place...

First of all, people don't die on aids. Aids takes down the defence mechanisme of the body, and a simple flew could kill you then... (did you die of aids or the flew?)

Anyway. Aids is for sure not on top!!

It's probably like:

Flew

cancer

aids??

It's 'flu' short for 'influenza.'

I'd probably say in terms of scale that Heart disease, while not contagious, is the most widespread. Closely followed by cancer. Not to say it is the most dangerous. That would have to go to one of the 'super-bugs' like Ebola or Marbug.

I do wonder about leprosy though. Not many people have it in comparison to the others but it's still around...

I put aidso n top bcause it has hardly any physical symptoms and yes the fact you can die from the cold is bad.

I put cancer obvious reasons, though some can be treated and beaten successfully

alzheimers - who wants to forget stuff?

blindness - I love my sight

genital herpes - um yeah painful open sores need I say more :P

But aids you have to contract. So if you or government[blood services] are not careful you get it.

Cancer on the otherhand is not really controllable.

Even if you are treated successfully, it can come back 20 years later and kill you in 2 weeks. :(

Aids is not a problem on PEI that I know of, but cancer is the worst in the country I think. (so that would make me biased)
