I had another computer (an older one)

the game worked normally on that one.

but on my new pc it won't work.

well at least no sound/music

system specs

AMD Athlon[TM]XP 2100+

1.73 GHz

1.00 GB of Ram

Try running it in windows compatability mode.

The easiest way is create a shortcut to the game on your dektop.Right click on the desktop shortcut you created, then click on the compatability tab.

Put a tick in the box run in windows 98 compatability mode.

See if this helps.

Dune 1 is DOS right? You could download a trial version of Connectix Virtual PC and run Dune on a virtual PC installed with DOS or Windows 9x. It worked for me! The original Command and Conquer works perfectly, compared to running it in XP which it just won't work. It also emulates a sound blaster so you can listen to game sounds and music.

Or create a dual boot system. Win XP has lost all DOS compatibility. For DOS games to work, your soundcard settings for example need to be defined in the autoexec and config.sys, which lack with Win XP...

Isn't connectix for MAc computers ?

Not only for Macs. They released one for windows as well. But I think Microsoft have aquired Connectix now, so the only place to download the software is using eMule or something.
