agamenon Posted October 24, 2003 Share Posted October 24, 2003 Hi - after 20-30 minutes of playing the twisted canyon map, I can't place new buildings. You get the "thummmmp" but the building isn't built. A few minutes later the screen locks completely and the mouse disappears. I've not had problems with any other downloaded map. I'm using XPHome on a MESH AMD 2600 with 512M RAM, ASUS m'board, ATI 9800 PRO graphics card.Any suggestions please? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

gryphon Posted October 25, 2003 Share Posted October 25, 2003 Sorry, although I can't place the map with a game. . is it Dune Emperor ?Could it be you are at the maximun building amount of units after 20 minutes .. . making it not possible to build anything more ?Some games have that feature.And depending on the map, if it was an extra map you have installed later, just deleting it could sometimes do the trick. agamenon Posted October 28, 2003 Author Share Posted October 28, 2003 Yes, it is an emperor map off the download page.I've uninstalled it, there is a button in mappacker.I've switched off my antivirus program, reinstalled it, played, and the same thing happens.....It's a really nice map. As gryphon has mentioned before, there is a building limit.Try to play to same map against several easy armies and check if you can still build after 20 min of play. I've re-installed, twice, reduced the graphics resolution, etc. For 6 AI players, no problems. It only has happened so far with me against 7 AI players. So it must be this building limit? Or it may be when the first AI player is eradicayed/gives up. Sometimes the CPU load goes to 100%.I guess this is a "feature" of the map. It hasn't happened on any other 8 player map I have.I like the map though. It's pretty exiciting if 3 AI players suddenly attack you together...
