For soem reason my comp keeps stuttering (real noticable when listening to music) and all o fhte sudden I have extra programs running in the background, I have no idea what they are or what they are for, or if I can delete them. Here's what they are called.

Blquvyfr

ptsnoop

khooker

kua2360

I searched for kua2360, and the only thing that popped up is in my windows temp file. Blquvyfr coems up in C:windows/application

data, ptsnoop is in C:windows, and has an image of a phone on a modem, khhoker is in c:windows and c:windows/system.

What are these? Can I delete them?

khooker seems to be ralated to SYS chipset drivers. Not shure if you can simply close them, although uninstalling should be ok.

ptsnoop could be a backdoor or a modem driver.. is there a modem in your computer ? If not you probably want to use a virus scanner. . .

ptsnoop could be a virus

khooker.exe - useless

SiS Keyboard Daemon.

System Tray utility which installed by the drivers of SiS (Silicon Integrated Systems) VGA cards. Can cause the errors at startup. It's not required. The reference to KHooker.exe places into the Startup folder.

Some trojan finder program found KHOOKER.EXE as the trojan.

Use RegRun Startup Opimizer for removal.

The other 2 I have no idea..

I ran an in-depth virus check last night, and other than some spyware that my adware program missed, it came up clean.

Yet the stutter is still there. The longer the computer is on, the more apparent it becomes.

Thats why was trying to scan and defrag the other day, to see if it got read of it, but it didn't.

Alright, khooker is gone.

I do have two modems: My 56k dial-up modem, and the cable modem (which is rental, outside my computer).

Can I delete ptsnoop, or do I need it?

Sounds like a heat problem.Dusty cpu fan maybe ?

There is a program called Adaware to remove spyware apps.

From Lavasoft.

I usually run it every week, up until now it usually finds about 4 a week.

This might not help, but you might try it. :-

Yeah, I have that program. I hadn't realized that you had to tell it to do an in-depth scan each time you turn it on, so I'd jsut been doing quick scans, hence it missing the spyware.

Seesm I missed some programs when I made that list. These ones are also running, and I have no idea what they are:

Tduf213

remotecl

Ndetect (maybe net detect?)

ndetect - ndetect.exe - Process Information

Process File: ndetect or ndetect.exe

Process Name: ICQ Ndetect Agent

Description: The ICQ Ndetect Agent is used by ICQ to detect an Internet Connection

Common Errors: N/A

System Process: No

I have no clue for the others .. are you still using Win98 ?

If they are running and taking up a lot of resources [ or you just want them out] they arn't part of Windows. Think the worst thing that can happen is just one programm that stops responding. A reboot shout fix that. And at that time you know where the process is for. You can look in MSconfig if those programms are in your startup list. Then remove the from that list. Again, if you notice any programm changes you know where the file is for. I know, not a real good way to find out what the files are for . .but it works.. . :-

[ locating the file in your file explorer and then selecting the properties might in some cases show the version and manufactorer info of the programm. That could help in identifying it ]

Yeah, still 98.

Anyway, I found outEM_Exec is my wireless mouse.

Blquvyfr is listed as eethlm in msconfig.

Also shut down soemthing called tkbell.exe

So that means:

Blquvyfr (also known as eethlm, turned off at msconfig)

ptsnoop (possible virus, possible legitamite file. Virus scanner says I have no virus)

khooker (deleted)

kua2360 (dunno, but I must have turned it off at msconfig)

Tduf213 (same as above)

remotecl (remote control for TV tuner which I can't use anyway, so shut off)

Ndetect (Icq net detect)

The stutter might be memory that's not being emptied when programs are closed. IF it really is that, there isn't much you can do. It's a undocumented feature of Win 9x...

But Attomic's suggestion might be your best shot.

In Adaware prog you can set it up to remove the possible spyware.

You might try Symantec.com to check for a removal tool for ptsnoop.

They have alot of removal tools.

Have you tried also typing in ptsnoop in the Google search bar ?

If you have a can of compressed air, when you use it, make sure you have the vacuum nozzle from your vacuum cleaner near to your cpu, but not touching it, this will stop the dust from settling somewhere else in your case.

Vacuums get staticly charged that's why you should avoid touching anything inside the case with it.

Don't forget to clean the dust out of your power supply at the same time, as this can also cause instability problems.
