Byron Merritt Interview

Inoculator has posted a recent interview he had with author Byron Merritt, grandson of Frank Herbert and member of The Herbert Partnership. The interview deals with his position in the Herbert Partnership, his opinions on the old/new books and films, and whether or not he'd like to write a Dune book someday. Here's what he had to say about his reaction the first time he ever read Dune:

What were your first impressions of your grandfather, Frank Herbert's Dune novels when you first read them?

Byron: Mind blowing. It was unlike anything I'd ever read before. Reading Dune truly changed the way I looked at literature. I looked back at some of the previous novels I'd read and laughed at them after I'd finished reading Dune. It set the bar incredibly high for the science fiction genre (and the literary world in general). There are few novels that do this — less than a dozen, I think — and I'm proud to say that Dune is one of them.

Good work Inoc, and special thanks to Mr. Merritt for his time.

I'm hoping to get one within a week or two with Brian Herbert, and later I do plan to ask Mr. Merritt if any other partnership members would consent to answering a similar list of questions.
