P.S. Most Europeans didn't want the Euro, Especially Germany, but the people wern't given a choice.

Unlike the U.K. who I hope will have a referendum.

I think it would be the worst thing England would ever do, to join the Euro.

Most Europeans know more about Europe than you obviously think.

I'm only young but my dad has lived in loads of countries including Holland and I'm not blindly patriotic. Britain is a country is a country I am proud of for good reason though.

I never said that I wasn't proud to be an Englishman,

I am. But I think for very different reasons than yours.

Maybe you can post why your proud, it might help others to understand better what it is your trying to say.

Normally I'm an enthusiastic advocate of the Euro (as a vital step towards a unified European Federation), but not in this case. Sweden is quite simply better than the rest of Europe, from all economical points of view. Therefore, joining the Euro could only make things worse for them. That's why I always thought Sweden should say "no" to the Euro, and I'm very glad they did!

We already has an European Union. We do everything within the EMU (European Monetary Union) already. I think Europe should be united in one way or another.

Actually, Britain SHOULD join the Euro. You don't really have anything to lose.

In some countries, the prices gets doubled by the Euro currency.

In Holland, almost anyone is complaining about the 'double' prices of the products.

Plus, reverting to the old currency would be heinously expensive, not to mention the fact that you'd be shunned by the rest of the EU.

In cases like this it comes down to the question if you're going to sit down whining and abandon the project at the first sign of inconvience, or try to improve it and make it work.

We won't be left out when Poland joins

Left out of what?

Besides, Poland needs the EU for economical reasons. They won't be joining the Euro anytime soon because they don't answer to the criteria, but they'd be more then happy to join.

I can't imagine the British joining the Euro anytime soon. Brittain is full of people like Newt, who are so convinced of their superiority towards Europe that they shun any unnessecary foreign influences and cling on to anything traditional, in this case the pound currency.

Then again, they might have little choice seeing as how foreign investors are less interested in the UK as long as they're clinging on to the pound, and when companies like Ford (wich owns Landrover) admits that they'll likely close several English factories if they don't join.

These Eastern European countries who have so recently fought for their freedom will not give in to easily and sign awar their sovereignty to a foreign body such as the EU. Sure they will join it but they won't all agree to sign the European Constitution. The EU won't last too much longer as there is too much internal strife and disagreement and the anti-european movement is getting stronger in Britain and in Denmark and Sweden I expect. Britain will never join the Euro unless we are invaded by the Euor-army being created. If people like me are common in Britain answer me this, why has Britain survived so much better than your country?

We will keep the pound and we will always be proud of the nation it represents, not just part of the EU, or part of a Country, but an individual country. Britain has too little in common with the other countries for this ever to take place. WE have far more in common with USA, Canada, Australia or South Africa than Continental Europeans. The only Europeans (aside from the Irish) we are close to are the Norwegians and let me think, they aren't in the EU. The sooner any idea of that European Constitution or any think similar is abolished, the better. Also, the other European countries should just get over the fact that we are not joining and stop putting pressure on us to join.

Lol. Don't you think that it's a tad... irregular that Britain, having so you say such a weak economy, also has the strongest currency in the world bar none? To my knowledge Britain is the fourth largest economy, and France was recently overtaken by Italy I think. The current government is hugely unpopular and the conservatives are coming top of popularity polls. Despite this Labour will most likely win the coming election simply as no one seems to take the conservatives too seriously. We really need a new party that can be taken seriously (hah! Fat chance). A better idea would be for Britain to join the American trading block which would ultimately result in a European decline in economy and a huge rise for us. :)

Meaning what, exactly? Netherlands is a strong and nice country to live in these days. The only thing I can think of what you'd be aiming at is that we were run over by the nazis and you weren't, and the reason for that was the Chanel.

As for the cold relationships between the UK and the rest of Europe, it's as much your fault as anyone elses, and probably more. Thatcher practily started a cold war between the UK and Europe. If you're closer to USA, leave the EU and join the NAFTA instead since it's just free trade you want anyway.

As for being proud of ones country, I'm not sure if that sort of thinking will continue to exist in the 22nd century. Before the era of nationalism we had feudalism, who knows what we'll have next.

And the fact that our army was much larger, better trained and better equipped than yours. ;)

'That sort of thinking'

LMAO

This is why you people will fail. You are so stuck up and believe yourself to be so much greater than other people if they show the slightest hint of patriotism. You're right the only think we are interested in is free trade but because of the EU we can't fish in our own waters, we can be put in jail for using Imperial measures which is what British people have used for centuries and we soon might lose control over our Armed forces. Thatcher was the greatest Prime Minister except for Churchill which was proved in the Greatest Britons Poll in which she came thirteenth. I don't care if you weaker countries join together to try and make yourself heard but just leave us out of it.

Nice color DA.

Of course your army is, and always has been larger then ours. Yours is better trained and equiped then ours (and probably as well during the '40ties) because we Dutch don't attach as much value to an impressive militairy force.

Of course, if there weren't a Chanel then you'd have been crushed by the Wehrmacht. The only real ground fighting between English and German soldiers (till D-day that is) other then paratroops was with the English troops stationed in France, and they got their asses kicked royally.
