Now there's a blue line in the middle of the screen and there are small black lines and patches on the lines....is that the liquid?OMG! :'(

Seems to me you have yourself a broken LCD, which needs replacement..

I would guess it is more expensieve than that. And fitting it with anything else then the origional IBM screen isn't a smart thing to do I think .. ..

Now the black patch at the top right of the screen is covering almost 1/3 the diagonal distance of the laptop! It looks like a fat tadpole/sperm now! >:( :'(

Does it make any difference if I repair it now or later?

I agree. And no, doesn't matter now or later. Although the situation ain't improving as you've noticed..

The sides of the "tadpole/sperm"'s "head" has been reduced but the black line at the bottom-left is extending....lol. :'(

Do you think a second-hand LCD for my laptop would be cheaper? And would it be able to be switched?

Posted

Yes, they are generally quite tough, what DID you do to that thing? Does your father know about this yet? Is it your fault? (i guess as you seem to want to buy a replacement). it sounds logical that you can replace a lcd screen, though i've never seen this before. I think it's not too expensive, but the work of removing the old one and placing in a new one will be expensive

1.But if I do it myself,it wouldn't count the technician costs thus it would be even cheaper, only having to pay for the replacement screen. ;)

2.If I break it apart and can't put it back[hopefully light breaking-aparting ;D],the technicians that come to fix it later would just reassemble it. :)

3.Well,when my house marble floor was being polished,I had to stay in my room,so when I was connecting my laptop AC power adapter to the 3-pin plug,my knee accidentally pressed on the laptop which was then closed, and I heard a crushing sound so when I turned on,it had cracks, but I don't remember if there was any black liquid flowing out then...YES!IT IS MY FAULT! >:(

4.The outer surface isn't cracked.I can't feel any cracks.

5.@Flame:You said "I think it's not too expensive",D3m0ng3r[sp? :P] said that it was "about 150-200 euros" while nyar said "around 750 euros"....so what is "not too expensive? ???

Posted

well for the PDA of my friend (pocket pc which has touch screen) it was like 100 euro's or so.

installing it yourself might be cheaper if you know how to do it, but breaking it another 3 times before you manage to do it is even more expensive.

and the was pretty dumb of you.. one question still remains, does your father know?

Posted

Yup he does. But he doesn't take it seriously. Why?He is computer-technically-unsound.

How much will it be if I SEND it for repair? And how much if I fix it myself?[Note:I don't give a damn if this old one cracks more when taking it out.All I care is how I am gonna return it back after a year's time?I just pray that they keep extending the time that they "rent" this comp... ???

Posted

If you rent the Comp, then maybe it's insured against accidental damage ?

Whatever you do , don't tell them that you knelt on it.lol

Do you have a pet dog or similar ?

Their always good to blame ! not that I'm talking from personal experience. Nooooooooo no no. ;D

I would agree with what Cyborg said, replace the laptop for a newer model, when things like this go wrong replacing the whole unit is what you do.

Trying to fix the screen is gonna be more trouble than its worth.

Neither option is very cheap , but its up to you.

Does your dad know yet?

Yes,yes,yes he knows!I said that already! >:(

Replace this laptop with a new one?!?!??!are you mad?!?!?!This is my dad's company laptop...then what I do?Demand that they replace it for me? >:(

Instead of filling up this thread, you could think of an idea for which they'll replace the laptop (a good start would be Atomics post)..
