The Dark Day

As many of you may know, today it is exactly two years since the terrorist attacks on WTC and Pentagon. But, another important person died today: Anna Lindh, Swedens Foreign Minister. My mother was inside NK when they called for a doctor, but we only found out later who was the victim. Lindh died early today, but the nation only found out 3 hours later.

However, let us remember this day, and all of its victims. Let us remember that we won't give up democracy and freedom, no matter the cost.

Sorry about Foreign Minister Lindh. To think they said her wounds were not life threatening. I hope they catch the assassin.

I wonder what the motivation of the murderer was. The only thing I can think of was that he hoped that the authorities would cancel the Euro referendum next tuesday. I hope they catch that guy.

Well, first: they said the situation, right after when she arrived to the hospital, was critical but not life-treathening. They didn't say anything else until she died.

Secondary, there has been a lot of conspiracy-theories. Like, for example, that the murder was made to give the right-winged parties a bad face, and to get more "Yes" votes for the currency-voting next week.

Then, there is also the fact that all video-cameras was shut of in NK (the warehouse where she was murdered), so the only thing the police can go after is eye-witnesess.

I was just going to visit my grandparents, when I saw lowered swedish flags on their embassy. "It seems she's dead" went trough my head, so I've prayed in my soul for her. Maybe it will be a memento for you: don't think about security as a waste of money. If she had a bodyguard, maybe that assassin would make a scratch with first charge, but he wouldn't stab her to death!

I read the story in the Globe and Mail. I hope Sweden doesn't lose its' freedom. Sad day indeed.
