Temporary internet files are required. Without them, you wouldn't be able to use the internet. Images, for example, aren't loaded directly from the internet to your monitor; they are downloaded to the TIF, being displayed as it's downloading.

...BUT...

Go to tools -> internet options -> general tab -> under "temporary internet files", click "settings".

Here, you can choose how much space it'll take up on your hard drive (maximum). If you set it really low, I assume you'd end up with massive performance problems. Also note that you can delete TIFs from the general tab in the internet options.

Ok... is there a way to save my cookies seperately from my temporary internet files and is there a program that automatically deletes everything in a folder after x days?

I doubt there is a way to do what you want Ken. Internet Explorer is an integral part of Windows and messing around with the temp file storage could bring your whole system to its knees. I think all the options for temp storage available in the internet options of IE is about the only things you can do. Tweak UI may possibly have a few additional options as well. Other than that I am not sure without doing some research.

Twaek IE for Win98 and Win2K doesn't have the feature to delete all files in a given directory.

Besides that there isn't really a commercial program that deletes all files in a directory on a given timespan [ think of files in that dir not belonging to the user the programm in running as ]. The most you can do is deleting all files related to a certain program.

I know Opera has the feature to delete al those files you mentione with IE. Only regarding IE and the Windows TEMP folder I'm not shure that's possible.
