Bin Ladin: the whole picture
jav barri replied to Egeides's topic in Politics, Religion, & Philosophy
in 1996 the u.s. flew representatives from the taliban to texas (where george bush was then senator) where they discussed an oil pipe going through afganistan to pakisan , pumping oil from the caspian sea (some say its the 3rd largest oil supply) to ports in pakistan. The taliban refused. hmm seems a bit dodgy to me. Also before the iraq war no 2 iraq started trading oil in euros instead of dollars and they were being quite sucessfull too, strange how the u.k. and u.s. back the dollar where as the countries that opposed the war trade in euros. -
well i just think bill hicks got it right "no i'm voting for the puppet on the right, no wait i'm voting for the puppet on the left, wait theres one person holding the puppets"

i know a bit about arthur being from england and Arthur was actually a real man, he was a warlord fighting against the saxons (before feudal times), then the story got took over to france and all the merlin stuff was added, then it came back here (apparantly one of the reasons tolkien wrote lotr is because england didnt really have any myths of its own), my friends got a series of books by bernard cornwell called the warlord chronicles based on the original arthur stories havnt read them yet but he says theyre pretty good. I also saw something about shia muslims from iraq on the bbc about the recent bombing how they celebrated a prophet who lead them trying to find a home after being exiled from so many places, that reminded me alot of the fremen, iraq being covered in desert too, and spice in the desert and oil in the desert both need for travel and one of the main structures in our and dune society. I agree with aeon grey about putting dune so far in the future, look at 2001 a.d. its 2004 and i aint seen no space babies or black rectangles. sorry i havn't posted anything for ages my conections been down. I don't actually play dune2k i just like the topics you come up with, but dune 2 on the amiga

have a look on the front covers of jihad and crusade theres ships on them and they must be in keeping with the writers vision. Also there is a way of using 3d and 2d together, i'm not to sure on the details, my friend made a film using a combo and it looked really good.

oh sorry if i didnt put it in the hidden text thing sorry if ive ruined the book for anyone :-

I thought machine crusade was alright, i prefered b.j. ,and i prefered the prequels more than that it seems that they are getting worse as they go on. I just hope they can do a better job with the final one. At first when i saw it on the shelf i was pleased to see how large it was, but i found it dragged on, [hide]and whats with killing all the cast. It maybe so they can set up some new characters, i was getting a bit bored of some of them, but eramus is still good though.[/hide]

I don't see how they could write much about his early life, unless they write about all the other things in dune to try and set it up, but they've already covered that in the prequels.

oh whoops yeah now i think about it was Salusa Secondus because stuff about the sardukar being trained there too.

Does anyone know the name of the house who's name was removed from all history books after they used nukes on earth? ??? its mention in the prequels. I like them to include it in a book sometime maybe another dune legends series. I heard that after dune 7, another book or books are being planned, featuring pauls early life.

i will, sorry i've gotta go its nearly 5 in the morning argh need sleep but ive been inspired to do some dune sketches tomorrow.

xiii was crap i thought the graphics were ok but i wasnt that impressed, just a lazy way of not putting in detail, and the story was shocking like the bourne identity, and the bosses i thought that we'd left behind bosses, the hostages was good and the thowing things but other than that it was pretty average i thought.

well i was never really into sci fi then my friend lent me dune and i read it loved it then i got messiah and children, then read all the prequels, and then the legends and ive just finished the machine crusade, and now i'm about to read the rest. I've also got both miniseries but i still havn't seen the david lynch film but my friends got it so next time i go and see him i'll be watching it. know of any other authors like frank herbert or even brian (i really like the prequels alot) they don't have to be sci fi, just similar style.

I think the dune novels are like earth but split up over different planets, Caladan-sea, giedi prime-industrial, dune-dessert, that snow planet in the prequels can't remember the name of, ix-computerised, ginaz-islands, rossak-jungle, i'm sure theres more. oh and the next books out in september arrrgh can't wait.

so you want animators hey lucky for you i just stumbled on this forum from the dune books site, well your in luck, i'm an animation student taking a year out. i've got a few of friends who are animators and game designers(they can animate though) (my friend mikes making a dune game when the half life 2 engine is released), my friends however won't be able to do anything till the summer break (theyre still at uni). what did you have in mind 3d or 2d? what software or is that up to the animators?, is it all preped?, or will we have to do concepts and storyboards? 3d would probably be better for me as thats what i'm mainly doing, but 2ds ok, i think 3d max would be the best choice because thats the one everyone knows, i prefer softimage but its a bit fiddley if you havent used it before. I've already modelled a fremen and a desert mouse, i'm a bit crap at textures though, but i'll work on it.
