Ix in the later books

Can someone explain to me the role of Ix in the later books (GEoD onwards) and their possible roles in Dune7

In Chapterhouse (or was it Heretics?) it was mentioned that the Ix hadn't invented anything big for centuries and that they were doomed. I don't think they'll play any substantial part in Dune7.

I reckon Ix will save humanity in Dune 7. It was mentioned before.

It may have been in GEoD, although Leto II probably was referring the creation of no-ships.

They were submissive to the Honored Matres, and may become a small player, although they would still create tech items.

Arafel I do believe, before leto the tyrant died he spoke of them creating something mammoth in it's concequences.

Although to be fair, no-chambers were mentioned in GEoD. And since that time Ix would invent the mind probes, and loads of other nasty stuff.
