1-4 players, 128x128, ai zones included.

649 kilobytes.

Its not pixel perfect, but i think it has just the right amount of the feeling you get in sandy pass. Intense battles and micromanagement...

There are like two "sandy passes" and narrow pass guarded with infrocks to move from one to other.

Base rocks are very small so you will have to think about what you build very hard. Infantry rocks are just as vital as in original sandy so take them early in game.

zip file attached. Unzip the sandy for four.zip to datamaps, it will create "sandy for four" folder and unzip the files to it.

mendel, one of the main features of Sandy is that you get tons of base rock. if what you said in the quoted text is true, then you've made another version of Knife Fight, not Sandy :(

if you are gonna make a 4 player Sandy, then do that. but don't change the fundamental features of Sandy around, ie: tons of base rock, and still claim your map is a 4 player Sandy. that makes no sense.

navaros, i think you recognize why i call it 4 player sandy if you try it. It's the certain kind of spice rock formation in the spice area. That gives you certain kind of battle for the spice.

I think original sandy has too much build area so i cut a bit there. Theres still enough to do variety of stuff but not to do 3 of every building like in the original, thats just silly :)

edit: and keep in mind, theres now 4 base areas, i was aiming for 2 player team being able to build as much or bit more than 1 player could in original sandy. That should encourage team play.

"I make gunships with 2 hangars, you make 3 factories" is better than "let's both make gunships with 2 hangars and 3 factories each" IMO :)

not making it for the mappaker? ???

I never had the "mappaker" and never had a glue why it was even ever made :D

There's nothing more simple than just extracting a zip file. Whats wrong with that?

edit: maybe gob will put it in the map packer format if he posts this map in the downloads section.

mendel, to be honest i was really looking forward to this map, but now i'm very disappointed. i thought you were gonna duplicate Sandy as best as possible.

the original Sandy did not have too much rock. I've played vs. you on Sandy a million times, and in any game that went on for a while, I always ran out of space before I could build *EVERYTHING* I wanted to make. Sandy does not have too much rock space. Quite the contrary, it needs more. Example: when you camped Inkvines/Walls and all kinds of other stuff in your base, I was gonna SW you to death. Before I could even build my *first* Palace, I had to sell a building.

I find it refreshing that on the original Sandy, you could build a ton of buildings right off the bat. It's one of the best things about that map. Very few Emperor maps let you do that. A 4 player version woulda been awesome. I really hope you'll make another map that does in fact duplicate Sandy as much as possible.

Well it's a tough job duplicating. First of all to make it pixel perfect would require much time and skill, which i dont have. So i ended up doing what i can. Secondly, if I think the map could be improved, i will improve it. For example: there is a infantry rock in the other players spice field near north east base in sandy pass. There's no such inf rock near the other base. Why? It's no good to have such unbalance in map so i remove it.

And also having double the space for building compared to sandy pass by duplicating both bases was also not something i was looking forward. I have many times built even two guild buildings in sandy. Double that and it would be just too much in my opinion :)

But anyways...

I don't consider myself best or anywhere near best of the map makers around there. Im primarily a player, then maybe sometimes doing maps when i find it amusing, that's why I was never hired by ww :) If you want some really amazing maps... look for ^sniper^'s stuff.

Don't let navaros frustrate/disappoint you mendelbop, you know him, nothing's right for him. ;)

On the other hand, I really can't afford not to listen 25% of this maps target audience(so far), can I now? :)

At least he is commenting instead of just ignoring.

So I will try to make my next map more pleasing for him then.
