sup guys I need some help. I have kazza on my comp yaya i know dumb. but its not all my fault. I have kazza 1.7 and 2.2 (i think) fickin jackass friend installed 2.2 without askin if i had it. Anyway now for some reason i cant uninstall 2.2 and i swear there's still 1.7 somewhere in my system though i uninstalled 1.7. Now theres kazza shit everywhere and i dnot even know how to get rid of all trace of kazza. I run win2000pro and not too good with comps to take it easy on me. Also I have this damn xxxtoolbar in my add/remove programs and i cant remove that either. yaya have a good laugh just help me get rid of all this garbage.

thanks in advance

ya did that and removed 1.7. but i still see a kazza icon and open it and it still opens up Kazzaa 1.7!!! and in teh add/remove programs menu kazaa 2.1 (not 2.2) is there and when i try to uninstall it it says error could not find specified module.

What im getting at, is, back in the DOS, Win 3.1 days one could edit the autoexec.bat and config.sys to tell the computer what programs to load and to stop programs from loading. How do I do that in win2kpro. I'm sure I can just go and delete all kazza files, but i wanna make sure there's no residual kazzaa shit runnin in the background.

To get rid of everything, you'll have to use uninstall and preferably a reg cleaner.

You said you already uninstalled it, so I'd suggest to manually delete the folders, icons and what ever it has installed. A reg cleaner can be found here.

Last resort to get your pc clean is to format and re-install..

If you're using Win2K or WinXP there is a feature in your administrative tools part if the start menu. In it there is the MMC snap in [ or programm if you'd like to call it that ] named services. Note that you need to be logged in as Administrator to access that programm. The services displayed there are the systems programms that are automatically started when Windows starts. Look for any KaZaA related programms there dubble click it and select the disabled position. This way the service won't be run when Windows boots up.

Nevertheless, you should also remove all KaZaA folders and use regcleaner . . changes are after you have done that there won't even be traces of KaZaA bewteen those services.

Wow there was a lot of garbage in the reg. thanks nyar, gryp and ghost. Regarding mmc snapin, I don't see it, I am logged in as administrator, and all I see is: Component Services; Computer Management; Data Sources (ODBC); Event Viewer; Local Security Policy; Performance; Services; Telnet Server Administration.

Question, I noticed my dsl connection hasn't been as fast lately. As a point of reference, I used to get 20-50 ping in a particular server consistantly on counterstrike. Now on the same server my ping fluctuates from 20-250 wildly. Was this due to all the garbage kazza put on my cpu, or is it sumthin else. I know this question is pretty broad, simply put: does kazza affect connection speeds?

It's the bold one :)

And KaZaA shouldn't effect any ping settings directly. Although if KaZaA should be using up a lot of your bandwidth there isn't much left for other protocols / things to send. So this could indirectly effect you ping statistics. Although to get a ping of 250 on DSL would be verry strange if it's just KaZaA. When I have a LAN party at my house we are downloading all from KaZaA [ amongst others ] and hosting a Yuri's revenge server [ sometimes Unreal depending on what we are playing ] This and the 20+ clients or so besides us at that point have almost no effect on my connection speeds / consistancy. Now is my connection a little bit faster then the usuall 1,5 MB of a DSL one but still I doubt KaZaA could influence a ping that much.

Go to Start/Search/All files and folders/ search Kazaa

and delete all folders and files that come up.

[ edit, you toled him to search for Kazza files. Changed it as I recon it should be KaZaA files ? ]

I keep getting popups still. how do i get rid of all this crap!!!

I have the latest version of adaware and have the reg cleaner and these pop-ups wont go away. Thanks in advance for all ur help and the help with kazaa

I also have a program called Spybot. It detects things that adaware doesn't. It will get rid of about everything. Only problem with it is it will bring up all the files. Hmm having a hard time trying to explain. Kazaa will not run with out its popup files. Spybot will retrieve these files and get rid of them. After it does that the program will not run anymore usually giving and error of missing files or something to do with a library error. So definately make sure that you double check everything that you tell it to get rid of so you don't get rid of something you don't want it toand end up having a program that doesn't work.
