Handshake failed

After attempting 20+ games over several days, every one has failed. What can I do to fix it?

umm, more details would help a lot, type of computer/specs and what games/specs.

Update your drivers and try.

Handshake failed means that one of you dident connect. Having that happen so often is quite odd. I would suggest defragging aswell and checking over your internet connection. If you have AOL make sure you have general access or you will never be able to get a game. Thats all I can suggest. Hey Doc what do you think, sound like thats the most logical solution?

Apart from the above, makes sure background programs are disabled (especially firewall, virus scanner)

if it still doesn't work by now, could you describe the way you are connected to the internet. [ ie. analog, DSL Cable and direct, via a LAN or by use of a router ]

LOL, I didnt know you were talking about Emperor(I suppose) I thought you were talking about installing 20 seperate games. Silly me.

I would recommend Scandisk. Make sure you have the most up to date software for what you are using to connect or Reinstall software.

But wait and see if anyone else agrees with reinstall software.(for game)

Don't worry, I also had the idea that it could be about 20 different games in stead of 20 matches of oone game ;)

If it's just one game, are others workig fine over the internet and is there a way you could try this one game that fails to connect over a LAN and see if the error stays ?

Well I'll try what you've suggested and get back to you if it doesn't work.

This used to happen to me a lot but then I noticed that if you have MSN messenger open when you play the game (make sure you appear offline or busy) this will stop the problem. This may be unrelated but it is well worth a try.
