I was playing one of the single player missions as Atreides, against a Harkonnen territory. Halfway through the game, I was sneaking a few Infiltrators into the enemy base... but one of them got too close to a Missile Tank, and was revealed for a second or two. The Missile tank fired a volley.... and the Infiltrator stealthed up again halfway through the Missile Tank's volley. 2 rockets hit the Infiltrator. The other missiles flew all the way to my base, destroying an Advanced Carryall.

Has anyone had that happen to them?

I've never had that happen to me, but I know that things like these do happen on rare occasions. You just have to get the timing perfect... ::)

It's likely that the Missile Tank had targeted the advanced carryall that it destroyed earlier on, but it just hadn't destroyed it. However, it remained 'locked on' to the advanced carryall. Your infiltrator provided the Missile Tank with the ability to fire an 'unlimited range' shot, since the Missile Tank lost track of the Infiltrator midway through its volley, and so it fired it at its 'original' locked target. :P

Had the Missile Tank not been 'locked on' to anything, it would probably have done one of two things:

1. Release the full salvo on the Infiltrator, destroying it, regardless of how fast the Infiltrator can disappear again.

2. Fire a missile or 2, and when the Infiltrator stealths up again, the Missile Tank will fire nothing, but still go through the firing animation, and reload.

This is simply one of the many bugs in Emperor. There is nothing you can do about it, however this bug is entirely dependent on timing and chance. ::)

I've seen AA Troopers firing missiles across the entire map at my Gunships, Sarduakar Elite slitting the throats of soldiers that they aren't even standing close to, Minotauruses firing backwards, the list goes on...

Speaking of Sardaukar slitting throats, I was on the Ordos Homeworld mission (not the tleilaxu one... i mean the one before the Worm mission) and I was amassing elite Sards in my base, preparing for a huge Mino/Sard rush. Then the chaos lightning hits my sards.

It was both annoying and hilarious at the same time.

This happened to me once. I was leading with a Mino charge and there were about 30 Sard Elites behind my Minos, and they fired backwards, killing about 10 Sards. But these kinds of bugs are very rare, and require perfect precision and timing, and chance, too.

Yes ken, we're talking about the actual 'firing backwards' bug.

Er.....

There really isn't a way to phrase that without sounding like I'm talking to a special needs kid.

The Chaos Lightning is a good lesson. You have to be very careful about how you arrange your units when the enemy has 3 SWs. Better to learn that in singleplayer before you ever try to play Emperor online (though SW are not really a big factor generally speaking, and usually only seriously come into play when two players of very similar skill level are deadlocked vs. each other --- and that's extremely rare).

For that occasion you should plan you attacks wisely and hjave them timed and perfected. " It is always a good idea to lose a unit then lose your army" Copyright King-Mega.
