Tenzul
I have a little problem with Dune 2.The music is OK, but the digitized samples don't work.Could anyone tell me how to start them when I have an integratedsound card?
Cyborg
that problem is a very usual problem.I don't know any solution to it, but having an old soundcard will make it easier for you...Having a creative card also makes it easier... ;D
Dunenewt
I have a problem with the DuneII sound aswell - it only plays through the PC speaker! I can't get any Digital sound
Cyborg
To be more specific than in my last reply:Old games only supported a handful of soundcards because there weren't many at that time. However, it is so extremely many different cards nowadays that the programmers don't want to write a code for each card...You will find that your card won't work on more games than just Dune2. Tenzul
Well I haven't seen (heard) Dune 2 on a faster compy than pentium 120.I'm happy to hear the music at least. (For this I had to replace the Win.config.sys with a dos version.)I hope this'll help some of you.
Tenzul
You will find that your card won't work on more games than just Dune2.Maby it is because Win. simulates the port of integrated cards. >:(
Dunenewt
For this I had to replace the Win.config.sys with a dos versionHow do i do this and what are the concequences?
Tenzul
Well it depends on which Win. do you have. The cosequences are that the game gains sccess to the memory.

I did need to download other drivers, dos drivers. But in the end all the sounds worked. Now on winxp however i can no longer rune dune2. Nyarlathotep
I have a problem with the DuneII sound aswell - it only plays through the PC speaker! I can't get any Digital soundIf I'm not mistaken, dune 2 makes use of DOS. Make sure the sttings for the soundcard in config.sys are correct (match them with your windows settings). Also, can you select a soundcard in Dune 2 ? If so and if you haven't tried already, try choosing a Creative soundcard compatibility mode. Terror
and try finding special dos sound drivers for your sound card on the I-net. In the case of a Sound Blaster Live! (that most people have) i think you'll need a DOS emulator, but i think that is standard already build in the normal Live! drivers. So I don't see any real solution there. I might check on the creative site to see if they have some info on DOS compatibility
