The diktat...(Phone rates in S.A)

I thought I must have gone mad today... I just noticed than in 2 and a half hours the money on my phone had gone from 41R to 0. Now, I was quite used to the 10r per an hour rate.... and started noticing it was goine up.... but 41R in two and a half hours?( hadn't been on the net for awhile... was probably around 14R last time I checked) But I checked.... it's a fact... a fact that I have evidence of because it's effects still remain...:D

The phone rates here in S.A are ridiculous. about R18 or so for an hour (just the cost in phone cards) on one the internet (2 and a half hours used up 41R). And this doesn't even take into account the phone rent ( usually charges about 15R a week and sometimes someone decides to charge twice a week. Then theirs the phone bill. Then theirs the...e.t.c...e.t.c. I wouldn't be surprised if the average total estimate for an hour on the internt was about 35R. This is rediculous. Unfortunately in S.A, companies,shops,e.t.c don't lower their prices to be competitive. Instead, when one store/company raises their prices up high, so does everybody else. So basically, they raise their prices all the time because they know that no matter where people go to buy things they will still be ripped-off. The situation got so bad that the goverment tried to forced stores and the like to lower food costs by 20% or something... In S.A, you quite literally have to pay as you go when it comes to calls and the like. There are no deals (that I know of) where you just pay a certain amount each month and then you can go on all day if you like as you can pay more than the agreed amount. In S.A, you pay for every second, wether it was less or more than the rent... (which is just something else you have to pay and does not affect how long you can be on the phone/online). Have I mentioned that my parents probably have the best phone rate price wise in S.A? You'd think: but why doesn't a phone company in S.A charge a reasonable amount? then it would have many customers... doesn't that company not have any customers/clients because of their ridiculous rates? Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way here in S.A :(:D. You see, they don't have to worry about customers/clients going elsewhere, because: guess what? when they raised their prices... so did everybody else! So no matter where people went they'd still be being ripped.

Their must be a conspiracy or something with the phone companys working together...:D

The biggest problem is that no phone company offers the kind of contract where you just pay a certain amount of money at the end of the month and then can go on for as long as you want

The fact that no phone company here offers such a contract is ludicrous
