Guest akamsg101 Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 i'm very sorry, I didn't know that you would do very personal help, as well as overclocking it i changed the series too, it's a 7000, thanks... lol :D
Guest akamsg101 Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 oh and I know why it didn't show the sound card, it's not using it. I have no idea how to fix though, oddly enough it works when I test it and instead of using the sound card I have it's using the microsofe synthesizer. when in dx-testing I select the sound card and test it I plays the music... currently i'm downloading the windows update thing and waiting till it gets done... thankyou for all your help :D !!!

Nyarlathotep Posted March 29, 2002 Author Posted March 29, 2002 Dave, you state it freezes on you.. Could you tell me how and when ? Is it always at the same point/action/after a certain amount of time ?"Doc" Nyar...
Guest DaveK1981 Posted March 29, 2002 Posted March 29, 2002 Ok, quick update. I changed the AGP aperature to 256 again with the -s option and my desktop set to 800x600 16 bit and was able to get through an entire skirmish game at 1024x768 with everything at high. If I need to I will leave things at this to play but I am going to try to see if I can set a few things at different settings and still get it to work. Thanks Doc for the help.Dave
Nyarlathotep Posted March 29, 2002 Author Posted March 29, 2002 Great Dave ! Keep me updated !"Doc" Nyar...
Guest DaveK1981 Posted March 29, 2002 Posted March 29, 2002 Woohoo! Seems that the change in aperature was the thing that fixed the problem. I turned the sound back on and my desktop is at 1024x768 32 bit and I have not had it freeze yet. Crossing my fingers and knocking on wood that it will stay that way. Thanks again "Doc" Nyar.Dave
Nyarlathotep Posted March 29, 2002 Author Posted March 29, 2002 Have fun Dave and enjoy ! :D"Doc" Nyar...

Nyarlathotep Posted April 1, 2002 Author Posted April 1, 2002 Djcid, does it happen with online games, campaign, skirmish ? No problems during game play, just after finishing a game ?I asume that after the update above you tried it again and it failed again.."Doc" Nyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted April 1, 2002 Author Posted April 1, 2002 Cannibal, make sure you check the following page:www.xs4all.nl/~saschoAnother suggestion I would like to make is to ensure that your adapter refresh rate is set to default instead of optimized.Make sure you've updated your soundcard drivers to the latest. As for your video card, check out the same page and look under the section "Genral issues" (point 4). It contains driver pages for your 3dfx card. Also, go to start => run and type there dxdiag. Run the tests provided there. On one of those tabs is a button "Disable Direct3D hardware acceleration". Disable it and try to run the game again.Keep me update !"Doc" Nyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted April 1, 2002 Author Posted April 1, 2002 Radar, try the BIOS settings provided on www.xs4all.nl/~sascho, under general issues. Especially AGP aperature => try different settings.."Doc" Nyar...
DjCiD Posted April 1, 2002 Posted April 1, 2002 online games only. after a game or if i host and wait for a long time some times when i back out it does it.
Nyarlathotep Posted April 1, 2002 Author Posted April 1, 2002 Djcid.. looking at some recent problems, which look similair to yours.. are you able to try another NIC ? If so, I think we might have solved your problem.."Doc" Nyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted April 1, 2002 Author Posted April 1, 2002 Cannibal, go to start => Run and there type dxdiag. You'll recieve a DirectX information window. On the tabs "video", "sound" and "music" you'll find "tests". Run them and let me know the outcome (or after running the tests, copy the output here)."Doc" Nyar...
