Nyarlathotep Posted August 12, 2001 Author Posted August 12, 2001 tpwhite, glad it works for you now (should have read all posts before I replied first :DNyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted August 12, 2001 Author Posted August 12, 2001 olkiller, yes I'm from Holland :)4mb.. doesn't surprise me..Besides ICQ and MSN, you also have your virusscanner running..Before you start the game, you have to close everything, except for "systray" and "explorer" (press [ctrl-alt-delete]).Your processor seems a bit on the low side if you ask me. Also, make sure when yo ustart the game, you set the graphical options to low and shadows OFF (!). You should also download the latest drivers for your video card.Try the above first and let me know.Nyar...
Guest nine12 Posted August 13, 2001 Posted August 13, 2001 Nyar: I posted in thread # 12. What I said was I've tried every combination of -c +w with all three Drivers.[This message has been edited by nine12 (edited 08-13-2001).]

Nyarlathotep Posted August 13, 2001 Author Posted August 13, 2001 olkiller, it was basic troubleshooting, but have fun and enjoy the game ! :DNyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted August 13, 2001 Author Posted August 13, 2001 Nine12, I know you did and have read it. I'm still trying to think of a solution that might work for you. As you've (hopefully) already tried everything suggested here, I'm kinda getting stuck here. I'm not giving up, but need to make some more comparisons before I suggest something new. Keep in mind that, besides a few others (thanks to the few others who helping troubleshooting, as it's not just me !), I'm the only one that seems to be willing to help you. This is not just towards nine12, but to all that post their probs here. I'm doing everything I can to help you, but after so many suggestions, it's getting hard to come up with something new.btw, did anyone try the suggestions I made a couple of posts earlier ? If so, did they all fail, no changes ?Nyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted August 13, 2001 Author Posted August 13, 2001 number6, after doing some reading, I think your online issue may be resolved with the new patch... (just to let you know I haven't forgotten your prob...)..Nyar...[This message has been edited by Nyarlathotep (edited 08-13-2001).]
Nyarlathotep Posted August 13, 2001 Author Posted August 13, 2001 After going through this thread, I made this summary of problem similarities:* GeForce users seem to have a problem, one way or another. Driver being used is 12.41. I'm using a GeForce 3, but am using driver 12.60 (also tried 12.10 and it worked). Another point of discussion is the fact that on all systems, the card manufacturer is not showing as provider for the driver or as card manufacturer, while mine does. I went through the whole thread again and 95% of users with problems are Nvidia users... it makes you think..* I'm still thinking about the directx issue. As far as I can see, all users with problems seem to have drivers from 1999 or older. Just take a look at the ddraw16.dll file. All problem comps are reporting a date of 1999, while mine say's 2000...I'm aware it's a long shot, but just looking at the differences.* It seems, that at least most users with problems, are having a game controller attached to their soundcard game port. It might be useful to disable it or at least detache it for test purposes.Nyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted August 13, 2001 Author Posted August 13, 2001 To any GeForce user out there, who runs the game fine without any problems, please post the e-report so that we're able to compare stuff... a dxdiag output would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks in advance !Nyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted August 13, 2001 Author Posted August 13, 2001 WarpPig, on what graphical and resolution settings are you trying to run the game ?I saw that your desktop resolution settings is set to 800x600 24 bits. Try setting it to 1024x768 16 bits. Then try to run the game in 800x600...Nyar...[This message has been edited by Nyarlathotep (edited 08-13-2001).]
number6 Posted August 13, 2001 Posted August 13, 2001 Nyarlathotep, Thanks for your continued support! I have given up playing Emperor online and I have went back to ever faithful Starcaft. You know a game is good when you can still enjoy playing for years. Keep up the good work :D
Nyarlathotep Posted August 13, 2001 Author Posted August 13, 2001 Am I the only user with a GeForce who's got no probs ? I find that hard to believe...Nyar...
Guest olkiller Posted August 13, 2001 Posted August 13, 2001 nyarthe nviadia users have problmes i think because the update for the nvidia (TNT2 and riva) aren't on the Nviadia main site (last time i checked)(that was euhm 2 months ago)olkiller

Nyarlathotep Posted August 14, 2001 Author Posted August 14, 2001 For one, it's on the install disk of EBFD.If you run the prog and save it's output, it'll be placed on your desktop. It's called "go_ez.exe"You can also download it from the WW tech support site (click support on the top right page here).Nyar...
Nyarlathotep Posted August 14, 2001 Author Posted August 14, 2001 nine12, if you still have a ticket open with WW tech support, or are going to open one, I'd suggest you copy all the suggestions from here in there. It at least shows that you aren't just waiting for them to come up with an answer and who knows, you might gain some extra credit with them 8)Nyar...

Nyarlathotep Posted August 15, 2001 Author Posted August 15, 2001 Read the following thread about a user with lockups: http://messagebrd.westwood.ea.com/boards/emp/english/Forum1/HTML/007972.htmlHe posted his dxdiag output and he's running Windows ME. He also has old files, dated 1996... *thinks and wonders*...Nyar...
