James McAvoy, who plays Leto II in Children of Dune, recently talked to the sci-fi wire about his character in the miniseries. Here's an excerpt:

The miniseries Children of Dune is based on Herbert's second and third novels in the Dune saga, Dune Messiah and Children of Dune, which McAvoy said he first read as a teenager. "It's so rich, and it's a real metaphysical [series]," he said. "It's really questioning where humanity is going, and is there a place for the way we perceive things now? Does that have to remain the same? Is anything constant? The world is constantly evolving, as is humanity. It's really about evolution and taking charge of humanity's next step."

I'm glad to learn he's a fan of the books. Of course, even if he hated them he probably wouldn't admit it. :)

Good job..to bad it wasnt a video, havnt heard him talk public(hear his voice). Scifi also hired someone competent to put up the quicktime video for Alec Newman.

Interesting how they work the accents in the miniseries, eh?

Newman's Scottish, has to talk with an American accent.

McAvoy's Scottish, has to speak with an English accent.

Daniela's (I'm not sure, German I think?) and has to speak with an American accent, although her character spoke with an English one in the previous miniseries.
