Norwegian is very close to danish... We spoke danish in norway until 1814 and some years after that.

We spoke ancient norwegian and such before that, though(we have talked danish for 50 and upward years. I don't know because I suck at that type of history ;D)

you should start doing it again and raise Dannebrog in Oslo imagine the womens handball team we would have, nothing would be able to stop them, we could get all your oil money wich some drunk minister gave to you and you'd be able to buy cheap beer, what do you say, do we have a deal?

heh k :) ancient norwegian aka viking language ;)

Vikings were a unity between sweden, denmark and norwegia right? I admit that they did some pretty impressive (and perhaps also horrible) things. They even beated constantinople, well they could have... but they got bribed off

The "beer for oil" deal sounds sweet.

Err... I would like to keep the oil because we got good enough beer in norway, but everything is so expensive!!!

A norwegian-danish handball team would be unbeatable ;D

We're still mad because you beat us in the last handball tournament >:(

;D

yes, that's correct.

Vikings were a force to be reckoned with, they looted parts of france, forced paris down to their knees, bribed constantinople and many more things.

about the discovery of america, people are not sure. There are more people who believe that columbus was the first, unfortunately i cannot say

If I remember right, Normandy was actually given to the vikings.

The vikings invaded so much of france so the french gave a part of their land to the vikings so they stopped the invasion :)

The vikings were feared throughout europe. They were quite barbaric and plundered and looted and raped. They killed priests and burned churches and stuff.

We are proud of them anyway.

correct again. Normandy was not taken (well it was invaded more than once) but for the sake of paris and further invasions, they gave normandy to the vikings... Brittain was mostly taken by the vikings, as was northern germany and large parts of the netherlands... and they got quite far in the middle east

well, my viking knowledge is not that great, to be honest.. most of that knowledge comes from age of empires II, which provided a lot of information. I do not know much about eric the red, even though he is futured in a campaign.

I find viking history quite interesting though, especially with their ancient religion, and i'm eager to learn more about it

yes I believe he was expelled from Iceland, after some bloodfeud, then he fled north and found greenland. And his son Leif is suposedly the one who found the Americas

heh i got to play that aoe2 campaign again ;) No wonder that greenland and britanny were featured in that mission, i wondered what the connection between those two were :)
