Acriku Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 Your basic statement was, if they don't follow the teachings they aren't true christians. Sneezer even said this.
emprworm Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 well that is not a fallacy, because the definition of Christian is "christ follower"so obviously it cannot be a fallacythe fallacy occurs when you ascribe a condition upon something that is outside the bounds of the definition of the thing.
Acriku Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 They can follow Christ, and still do whatever. Jesus teaches you to love. If you met a terrorist that told you he had plans to kill the president, would you take him down? Or in any extreme situation, would you take someone down in anger? If you do not follow what Jesus teaches completely, I cannot call you a true christian. Using your logic?
emprworm Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 i see your point. i think i would restate my comment to say that any true christian would make a dedicated effort in life to follow Christs teachings.occasional slips will happen, but overall the desire needs to be there.
rogue1896 Posted January 15, 2003 Author Posted January 15, 2003 wtf :Ohow the hell did this turn into a religious debate? i posted a funny joke and somehow it goes religious. it's a little comic i read in a magazine. laugh damn you! ;Dand sorry ace, but that's actually just funny :P someone throwing a tomato at you b/c he saw you. lol
rogue1896 Posted January 15, 2003 Author Posted January 15, 2003 no it's not. it's a funny thing about christ and satan playing unreal tournament or something. how is that religious? and why the hell were you offended TMA? in no way shape or form did it insult christianity. ???
emprworm Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 im not offended by it, i just found it dorky.
rogue1896 Posted January 15, 2003 Author Posted January 15, 2003 oh yeah everybody picks on christians. We are used to it by now.lol its one of those things you learn to live with. :)and that is why i said TMA, emp. not you. and it's not surprising it's dorky. it's a freaking comic i saw in GameNOW, my gaming magazine. i thought it was sorta funny at the time. jeez, lighten up people.
Acriku Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 It's pretty funny yeah, but if it has religion in it, there's bound to be discussion about it ;)
emprworm Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 had they not shown jesus on the cross and instead shown him sitting at a table somewhere it might have been more funny to me.
TMA_1 Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 lol it was not insulting. not in the least. You tried to insult sneezer and me though, pointing it out to us and stuff. discriminating the two of us. So I thought I would point out that we are picked on. silly head.lol ;)
Acriku Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 Discrimination isn't always negative. I discriminate my mother from everybody else, does that make me picking on my mother?
TMA_1 Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 word games again ack! lol discrimination isnt bad at all, its when you do it to try to hurt somebody. That is wrong in my opinion.
rogue1896 Posted January 16, 2003 Author Posted January 16, 2003 jeez. you guys take jokes way too seriously. next time i won't post something i see as funny. i said it something about you guys as a JOKE. i wasn't singling you out or anything. like i said, next time i just won't post something i find funny so we can avoid relgious discussion after religious discussion.
Edric O Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Wait, you mean this comic was meant to be funny? Err... let me see again... "Jesus and Satan play on the net"... so... when am I supposed to laugh? ???
rogue1896 Posted January 16, 2003 Author Posted January 16, 2003 apparently you don't get it. good idea acriku. i'll just lock it.
