a turtler is someone who stays in his base, building up defences and an army and waits for his enemy to attack him so he has the advantage of the base defence. He doesn't attack, only defend. Untill he or she's positive that he/she can overpower his/her enemy

A turtler/camper is also used for someone who is constantly sitting in his base attacking the other base from his own without heping out his team with defending or attacking, someone like that is also called a point wh0re.

1. A turtler is the opposite of a rusher: don't scout, build defenses and boost the tech-tree. Let the opponent waste units against your defenses, use your advanced tech-tree to remove some oponent key buildings, then claim spice fields with the accumulated units. And when the spice fields are yours, the games is yours. This is a winning strategy against computer. However this is a losing strategy against human players. A human oponent scouts and exploit intelligence to build a counter and hit your weak points. Also human players defend spice fields much more actively. So practically an online turtler loses before he can reach a winning position. When playing online if you are a turtler you are a loser.

2. Although not mentionned in the acclaimed Shiroko's FAQs, the devastator auto-repairs upto 50%. This is especially useful in harkonnen campaign final missions and, more generally, against computer. Just turtle and build mass-devastators. Then use half to attack, when other half is repairing. Use repairing half to claim spice fields. Swap the roles until the computer is exhausted. For minimum loses:

* don't face rocket turrets, use troopers instead or enter and destroy windtraps

* don't face missile tanks and deviators, target them separately with other units

ithought that the movie was cool hey do you ever play dune online? cause its pretty cool. and we need new people i just found out today that they made a book about it and that sounds interesting

I'm a turtler

only offline? or also online. For me i tend to turtle quite often when it comes to fighting comps, as defending is so much more relaxing that contstantly attacking. Online though, i automatically change to an assault player. Not an early rusher, but just build up a small/medium size balanced force and i like to kill my enemy with less forces than he has, through deception and bluffing.

I only play offline. I agree, playing defensive against the comp is really fun, especially as its quite rewarding at the end coz you get a very high score due to the no. of units you destroy.
