Dune rolling demo (non-intercative) NOT USING the face of Kyle MacLachlan

Hi all,

Here is an old non-intercative demo of the video game Dune, by Cryo.

It's interesting because it uses different graphics for Paul's face. Instead of using the face of actor Kyle MacLachlan, it uses totally original graphics by Cryo, that were then abandonned for the final version of the game.

Cryo's logo also looks different.

Yeah, that's true. Obviously the demo was released some time before the game was finished. Either that early version of Paul didn't generally look good enough, or didn't resemble his movie prototype enough, so they changed it.

You can get the demo at DOS Museum too.

I don't know if anybody's noticed, but Paul's death animation (beyond the first few frames) is based on the old face - those very distinctive eyebrows stick out even when he's partially skeletonized.

...death animation? I just watched through the entire thing, and you don't see Paul die.

Heh, looks like that site messed up the description for the C&C1 demo... they think the demo's second zipfile (which is the videos & music addon) also contains the actual demo...

Yeah, I emailed the guy. He also had the Dune II demo mentioned as 'Playable demo'. :P

Althought the demo doesn't use Kyle MacLachlan's appearance for Paul,

Feyd-Rautha looks a lot more like Sting in the demo,

as opposed to his appearance in the final game:
