ive been using this for a while now and it works really well :

instead of building new harvesters ( normally i have like 3-4 ) i build 2 refineries ( which come with 2 harvesters and carryall ..)then i build a 3rd refinery and once its ready , i sell one of the refineries i already have and place the new one - so i get a new harvester + carryall for 700 credits only ...

you could do that one more time and only upgrade one of the refineries so you get 4 harvesters and 3 refinery pads which guarantees a constant flow of cash.. so you vehicle production queue is not held up by building harvesters ....

I used to do that for RA2 but in that game your structures blow to fast so its safer to have two Refinaries but either way that tactic still works provided if you can climb the tech tree fast enough

What I do is create a seperate base for harvesting:

5 refinerys, fully upgraded and a factory or two for ing up units during an emergency. even better, I do this in a choke point where lots of enemy harvesters are. Mine simple take over, and the base defending guys desroy the enemy harvesters

Yeah, but the five refineries and a bit of micro-managmaent with the pads will give you a good advantage
