The cinematic trailer thread

Recently, I've developed a habit of browsing www.gametrailers.com for exciting cinematic trailers - meaning, for the most part, CGI battle sequences - even for games that I have no interest in ever playing. I like to watch good cinematic trailers for their own sake, and not so much for the game they're promoting.

So, in case anyone else is interested in the same sort of thing, here's a thread to post links to (and comments on) the best cinematic game trailers out there.

I'll start with a classic: The Dawn of War II new enemy cinematic

And for something more recent, here is a Dragon Age CGI battle sequence released today.

I completely agree with you that often cinematic trailers and game cinematic show a lot of finesse in their making.

The Dragon Age trailer is amasing work, It is well done graphically and sound wise, and it shows the main points for the game which is RPG. It shows the human race and shows the three major classes in the game. Overall this is very good as the demonstration of the game is very strong.

Yes Dawn of War II trailer is also very good with a climactic ending. Reminds me of the Warcraft 3 (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/trailer-1-warcraft-iii/3107) except Dawn of War II trailer is better.

A good trailer is this

it is Battlezone game cinematic (first 2 minutes are what I like)

Age of Empires II intro cinematic is another good one

which ends with a bit moralistic lesson.

Another good intro cinematic is Freelancer's intro cinematic

it able to set up the necessary story elements without the person needing to play StarLancer (Freelancer is a sequel to Starlancer)

Another intro cinematic I love and enjoy is Spellforce order of dawn

. IT shows the battle of two wizards but it shows it in more interesting way than I seen it before it is very physical battle despite use of magic.

1. God Of War 3:

Probably one of the most anticipated games in 2010. I can hardly wait wor it, too. The third part takes you on the journey on the back of the titans to climb mount Olympus to destroy the Zeus and his fellow gods (you probably should have played part 1 and 2 before playing part 3 because the stories are very connected). If you don't own a PS3 yet, this is the reason to get one. Part 1&2 for the PS2 have been released 2 weeks ago as a remastered collection for the PS3:

2. Dante's Inferno:

Also a must-buy for me. Dante's Inferno tells the story of the "Divina Commedia" and you fight your way through the nine circles of hell. Check out the developer diaries for the different circles of hell as well. I think the concept and artwork is incredible.

3. Darksiders:

The first game I will buy in 2010. You play War (you know they rider of the apocalypse) who has been betrayed. The setting is a post apocalyptic world and also I doesn't look as dark and fearsome as Dante's Inferno I really like the style (by Joe Madueira who's comic books I read in the past)

4. Castlevania - Lords Of Shadow

Finally a Castlevania game that looks promising. Can't wait to see more of it. Not too much CGI in this one though:

As you can probably see, on the console I love hack 'n' slash games pretty much (only the good ones though)  ;D
