Tensor
Hello everybodyI'm just wondering about the quality of the music we can hear in Dune 2000 and on the mp3's that can be found on this site or downloaded elsewhere. I think you'll agree with me if I say that it sucks. I can't stop thinking about the "real soundtrack" in the original quality ( yes I've heard that the soundtrack is compressed to fill one CD) but doesn't anyone have a clue where to get the real fresh original untouched songs? I really like The Ambush, for me it's one of the best songs from coputer game ever and it made it into my Winamp TOP100 list along with such classics as terran1 from starcraft and Horde1 from warcraft. Now I was wondering about the musical score CD that I heard Westwood once released. I can't found it anywhere now I was trying the torrents but without luck.... Can somebody help? Tensor
I'm almost sure though that what we can get here is the only version of the Dune 2000 soundtrack around. Maybe Frank Klepacki has the holy original at home:-) I once wrote an e-mail to him regarding some guitar riffing skills and he actually responden to it. I'm considering writing him again about this...
MrFlibble
Tensor, most pieces from the Dune2000 soundtrack are present in the jukebox at Frank Klepacki's official site. Also, don't make unnecessary double-posts, use the "Modify" button to edit your message. Tensor
yeah but it... sounds the same..well I don't want to be troublemaker with this I was just screwed off by the fact that everytime it plays in my player I have to turn up the volume quite a bit to actually hear something... and then almost get blown out of the window when another song plays after Ambush:-). allright it seems it's really the only version made and it was done so it could fit better into the game as a background music. The reason I tried to ask this was just that I had the same problem with starcraft's terran1 music and then got a program which extracted it from game with much better quality and volume than the downloaded one and I was wondering if I can get the same result here. And sorry about the doublepost it won't happen again I forgot to mention it first and felt I should add it.Have a nice day

Nyerguds
I think Frank's site is still missing some of the D2k tracks though... I think I mailed him about it, but I don't think he ever added them.Oh, and Frank responds to pretty much all emails that are sent to him. He's a great guy :)
MrFlibble
AFAIK The Soldiers Approach and the score theme are the only ones not featured on Frank's site. He probably did not upload them 'cause he can't find the master versions anymore :D (must be a huge archive of music out there; e.g. he mentioned that some early music for RA was "shelved", with only Surf No Mercy having been released as a bonus track - would be interesting to know what those songs were like :))
Tensor
Original Email:Hello FrankI'd like to ask some information regarding Dune 2000 soundtrack "master" version which is what I can hear on this site I presume...:-)> I once extraced the music files from the game, but they feel like really low quality like if you heard them from behind a wall. What I heard here is slightly better... but still I can't stop thinking that even a better versio exists. Fruity Loops, or Cubase for that part really don't have this "hissy" sound... Or is that for purpose?> Where can I get the master versions? Do they exist?> Thanks for reading.. and hope for a quick reply:-)> Wish you luck in futureReply:Hi there! The master versions were never made available. EA controls that stuff so it's really out of my hands. Glad you like the scores though! Dune 2000 was one of my favs too. ;)Thanks for writing!Frank KlepackiHuh... well at least I tried... Guess it's pointless to try my luck with EA... MrFlibble
Actually the music on Frank's site is supposed to be of better quality than the in-game AUD files (44 kHz stereo as opposed to 22 kHz mono). Perhaps the console version had higher-quality CD music?

It doesn't contain "The Soldiers Approach" either :(And the quality isn't even all that good. Stereo, yes, but not really good...

AMIgaBot
so its point for me as youtube has always good performance ha!
Nyerguds
Eh, my point is that the version they'll have on YT will just be the game AUD file, with some extra compression (read: quality loss) courtesy of YouTube.
