Andrew Posted July 3, 2008 Share Posted July 3, 2008 So a Canadian abortionist got the Order of Canada the other day and there is now controversy over it.Dr. Henry Morgentaler is a controversial Canadian physician who performs abortions and has been a long time activist who has fought numerous legal battles for the right of women to obtain the procedure.Without him women would not be able to legally get abortions in Canada.Morgentaler 'honoured' by Order of Canada; federal government 'not involved'This is what Canada's Prime minister had to say:"My preference, to be frank, would be to see the Order of Canada be something that really unifies, that brings Canadians together," he said.Damn Fundies trying to enforce their beliefs onto others. Just because people can legally get abortions does not mean that it forces people who do not believe in abortions to get them.I'm sure Harper will have something similar to say if whoever allowed gay marriages in Canada gets an Order of Canada. Because everyone knows that if gays can get married that makes the marriage of heterosexuals meaningless.I just saw this on the news and had to make a thread to vent my frustrations.
