Haven't posted here for a long time! :) Anyway I have this strange problem, I'm able to connect to ra's server, I always connect in 1v1's, but I never connect in 2v2's(and more 2v3, 3v3 etc..). I tried everything but I still can't figure out the problem. I dont have a firewall on my comp but I use a D-link 524 router.

The router may have a built in fire wall but then it should block 1vs1 as well  ::) :-[ :)

That's what's so strange about it...

Do you always play 1v1 against the same person, or is it different people each time?  Same question about 2v2, 3v3 etc.

Different people...

Hey Schorpie, Please try to stay on topic. Goofey replies are cool if it is a goofy post to begin with, but Leo is asking for help, and Leo is a player, not a talker.

Leo, did you get this straightened out yet?

No, i tried everything. ): But for some reason I connected in a 2v2 few days ago. Today I still can't connect... I have a strong feeling it's something with the router, but then again if it's the router how come I can log in to ra's server and connect in 1v1's or 1v1v1's...

Here is a couple of thoughts

Are you running a software firewall? like maybe Windows built in piece of crap? That could be a problem. I saw in your first post that you aren't, but if your running Windows XP or Vista, unless you disabled it you are running one.

Are you hard wired to the router (cat 5 cable) or wireless? Wireless by itself should not be a problem unless you have several other computers on your Lan hogging bandwith. Then the lag might cause the handshake failure.

Can you CONSISTENTLY play 1 Vs 1 or do they sometimes fail as well?

Are you broadband or dial up?

* I dont have any software firewall on my computer, my windwos firewall is switched off.

* This computer is connected with a wire(cat5), I also tried to play on my laptop(wireless) - same thing, handshake failed(in 2v2's).

* I dont have other computers connected on this lan.

* yes, I connect consistenly in 1v1's.

* broadband.

I know this sound odd but try this- Go into the control panel, go to windows firewall, go to the advanced tab, and see if the firewall is enabled for your LAN (the box will be checked) if it is, un-check it and any others, click OK and reboot. I know it sounds stupid, but it fixed this same problem once for me. If that doesn't do it try this-

Start a process of elimination. I would suggest trying cat-5 direct to the modem. If you take the router out of the equation and your problem goes away, then you know it's the router.
