Dune Wiki

I thought I'd post about it on here, as not many people check the News board.

It would be nice if more people could contribute, as I will be doing after I finish Sandworms of Dune.

I posted about it on the official Dune messageboards, and I even had Byron Merritt say that he'll have a look at it.

There's so much information contained on these boards that could be input into the wiki, so it would be nice if some of you could donate some of your time to writing some articles on the Wiki.

Once, I rewrote the article about Noree Moneo from Dune 2000 :) When I got some time, I'd be glad to contribute more, preferably to the information about Dune games ::)

Well for a start, we could collate information on this forum.  That way at least I could transfer it over to the DuneWiki.  I've been transferring stuff over from Wikipedia as well, so if anyone could help with that, I'd be glad.

Collecting and veryfying all the info on this forum, even if it concerns a specific problem or a single book, sounds like a lot of tedious work. I wish I had both patience and decent internet connection speed to attempt such an endeavor ::)

I was never in the first Landsraad anyway.

I bought a second hand copy of House Atreides and will be updating the wiki with all the information I find in there shortly.

yeah, and therefore the dune wiki is not acctually necessary, since there is something written about everything in the duniverse on wikipedia.  :P

Copying over from Wikipedia gives us the basic information, and somewhere to start.  Who is William Occam?

We could write the basic information ourselves, adding our own angle to it. Are we not the dedicated Dune-fans? (Note that I'm not in any way volunteering to do it :D I'm a little low on free time ATM)

The Easter holidays are coming up, so if anyone's interested, we could all concentrate on one particular area, such as all the characters from the first three classic Dune novels.

The only help I can offer now is to look through an article someone else has written and check/add information and/or relevant quotes from the books (that is, when I happen to get online). Don't have time for maything more than that, sorry.

Well, in a couple of weeks I have my Easter holidays, and that's when I plan to add everything I can from the House Atreides book.
