me and my friend had an argument last night about the blair witch project.

his side says that the film is for real

my side says that the "based on a true story" is something the producers used to attract more viewers...

who's right here?

It is not real, and it is not based upon a real story either.

It's probably vaguely based upon some legend or something, if anything.

They marketed the film so that people would think it was real. It was actually 100% made up.
