internet gateway

hi..somtimes when i set my system network connection i see an extra icon at the network

connections section called (internet gateway)....

and for my surprise somtimes i dont see it ,and i cant disable it at all cases or delete it....

i have a question please on what is that funtion? and dose it slows down my connection at any way?

i have 256k adsl and a lan card.... thank you

It's your router which has UPnP. And no it doesn't slow your connection down. :)

yes..well i disable it now and its gone awy...what good is it for this upnp anyway???

do i have to enable it again??

It allows you to discover network devices and manage them more easy, next to that some games need it to request open ports from the router, you don't have to manually do it saving you the hassle.

Internet Gateway also somehow found its way into my computer three weeks ago, and it's still there now.

You need an UPnP component installed and an UPnP device for it to work.
