I have gotten two exact same emails in my old hotmail account saying I can reset my password in my main gmail account.

I did not request these emails (or to reset password).

As far as I can tell the emials appear legit in their links.

gmailxq5.th.jpg

The google.com/accounts link at bottom of page looks like:

gmail1bm5.th.jpg

Now before clicking on any of those links I got worried and signed into gmail and increased my password strength fearing someone had hacked into it or something.

But I did click on the link and it appear somewhat legit although the password reset page was slightly different then what I did when I manually signed into gmail. I of course didn't change my password there. But find it wierd.

Any comments/suggestions?

Yeah i've got comments and suggestions..

Delete that e-mail, its good you increased your password strength.

Probably someone is sending you a mail with a link when you click on it, and are about to change your password through that site, you will be subject of a so called man in the middle attack. You think you change your password, and the person in the middle can see that password, logs on, and changes it (all automated) and you cant use your mailbox anymore.

A friend of mine had the same with her hotmail account. she didnt want to change it, but after a while she also wanted to change it, and by mistake she used that page she got from somebody. NOw she cant use that account anymore, even the password recovery doesn't work. (like that "secret question")

Have you got your gmail account configured with an alternate e-mail address to which your password will be send when asked?

than it could be someone is trying to get in maybe by mistake, but its also possible it on purpose.

but you changed and increased the strength of it, so it should be save now.

just open a new browser if you want to change your password and type your internet-address by yourself instead of clicking a link..

you might know this, but also to inform others, a strong password actually consists of:

lowercase letters,

uppercase letters,

Numbers 0 to 9,

and special signs like @ or $

this makes "p@5$W0rD" a lot stronger than "password"

Oddly, today I just got 7 spam to join or reset password for bebo social networking site. It sent the spam to a.sherry instead of asherry which tells me that maybe someone has a gmail account under a.sherry, even though according to google help this is not possible?

Oh god all her Bebo email is being sent to me! what to do??

Oh god this is most likely the case as some "friends" of the a.sherry have sherry last names. AHHH!>!!!!?

In the past I have gotten what appeared to be legitimate emails that were supposed to be for a daughter or something.

Now I got to find out if this is same person from stranrear scotland that I had problems with over msn with everyone thining I was their person.

EDIT:

I think they are from Castleblayney, Ireland.

EDIT2:

Or maybe they think their email is a.sherry even though it isn't and they typed in a wrong email address in the bebo email thingy.

EDIT3:

Yah I think they put in wrong email address, as the very first email I got was to verify the email adress.

Haha, I can cancel her acount by clicking on a link ;) (I'm not that mean,....yet)

But in order to request a password reset, they would need a real email address, and why would she put in the wrong email address again? Or is the username enough and they send it to default username email adress?

EDIT:

Wait wait wait, Anneka Sherry probably stands for the a.sherry, but in the emails the service is referring to me as Kate.

That makes it more confusing.

Here is Annekas bebo

http://www.bebo.com/profile/447739229

I'm trying to figure out who this Kate is and what her bebo page is.

Posted

maybe its her middle name???

Anneka Kate Sherry :P

But I was more thinking about a spamfilter... just to filter those mails out,

then go out and find a nice girl in the local pub :P ;)

Hmm, havnt noticed any cute ones yet.

Still getting emails. Not sure how she is receiving invites, I am getting the "someone wants to be on your list, allow them". She hasn't allowed her yet, so I am guessing she is not getting any of these emails. Not sure why she hasn't changed her email address yet.

Interesting, it said one day I was connected to 3 friends, and today it said I was conneted to 6 friends, although only 1 more person was added via email confirmation. Wonder how she added the other people.

Hmm, 1 cute one in http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=246437349 pics :P

Wtf, it sends email notices about recieving comments on your bebo page?

Good thing, because I now know Kates bebo page!!

http://PrincessLadyxx.bebo.com <--person who signed up with my email address.

And what is wrong with 18-20 years olds not knowing how to speak english??

I had the same problem with instant messageing conversations with 17 year olds in scotland who thought I was their friend.

Think I'm gonna bugmenot and sign in and tell her to change email address.

OMG http://www.bugmenot.com/ is down!?

If anyone has a bebo account, send a message telling her to change her email address (but don't mention the address!) :P

Interesting, this explains the story

Dislikes

Certain "people" setting up bebo accounts 4 me witout my knowledge.....my so called frends letting me ring people wen im drunk and yes we all kno i tink mary is sexy anneka, if only i knew hu she was.....

So maybe her friend anneka sherry did sign her up.

When will I be emailed?

Initially we will email you to verify your email address in case you're a big fat liar. Assuming you're not (and you won't be because everyone on Bebo is lovely) you are now in control of all the email you receive from us.

Maybe she signed up with her school email and then have messages fowarded to her real email. Must be how she successfully signed up.

Haha, getting email notification every 30 seconds about someone writing on her message baord :(

messages Who is her friend talking to? :P

Yes blocking email would be easy (it would all get sent to my junk), but would be easier to just get the emails to stop coming by getting her to change email.

I think it worked!

As she last logged in 2 hours ago and people have left messages on her page, and I have not gotten email notification!

She also wrote a blog a couple minutes ago but no mention of the email problem, just talking about drinking.

Still no new emails.

Read the comments section. They are all freaking out about "Who is Andrew??"

Hmm seems my bugmenotaccount is responding to the blog. Wierd. Maybe someone hijacked his account and posted it to bugmenot?

HA!

Checkout the bugmenot account I used. Seems it was hacked.

http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=1150713091

Ooo! Kate did apologize (about my email) at the bugmenot account comments page. But she didn't understand the whole "I'm using a bugmenot account" part.

I cant stop laughing! :(

No bugmenot accounts work, so I cant tell them the difference.

Worst case scenario is that Kate publicly gives out my email address.

Wow, signed into bugmenot account and posted on Kates space. Seems someone must be hacking accounts our something and posting them.

someone must be dictionary attacking accounts. But I have no idea as to why they would post them to bugmenot database.

Hurray! Someone else used my email address to sign me up for something else.

This time it is sony imagestation. Got another email now saying I am a premium member.

http://www.imagestation.com/

Even worse is now other people are emailing me about the pictures hosted there or something.

Great pictures, Mom!

I like your place at White Cliffs.  Looks like everyone had a great time at Christmas.  <3names>, and I are looking forward to seeing you and Dad at “Late Christmas” next weekend!

Two of your big boxes arrived today; I have hidden them, unopened, in the Guest Room (aka, your apartment).

Packing for Miami now.  Talk to you soon,  Love,

June

ARgh! I really hope it is not spam. I'm gonna have to email this June person and get her to tell her mother to change email adresses.

Omg the quoted part in daughters email shows

How did it send an email from my email account!?!

I think it is an honest mistake as I looked at the photoalbum (which is password protected) and it looks legit.

Heh, emailed the daughter who emailed me and got an autoresponse saying she is out of office.

Well she replied and I think we worked things out.

Her work email was asherry@<work>.com or something. No idea how the gmail part got confused into it.

Just found out there is another person with same name as me in the USA... Silly random people thinking I am their friends and adding me to MSN. This time the friend misspelled the email address. And now we have blocked each other.

How cute. Someone else with the same last name and same first initial used my gmail email. This time they bought baby clothes and are sending them to someone else as a gift. It also included their credit card information (but not credit card #). I am able to zoom in using google earth on their exact location of where they live. In a small suburb in the middle of nowhere in Colorado. They are having it shipped to Vermont. Quite a distance away.

You will receive an e-mail confirmation as soon as your order is shipped!

Great I can look forward to another email. No way to contact them to tell them to change email.
