Nick
Friend got dsl with an extenal modem. Eventually got the ethernet card in place correctly it had a light on at the back of it as soon as the computer was turned back on. The external dsl has a light that the ethernet is ready for use but useless ME isnt detecting the ethernet card at all, even with the latest drivers. Isnt showing up in the device manager at all. Im guessing this is why i cannot get the DSL working. Talking to people nobody has had a light as if the ethernet card is working without it even being in the device manager. Have I ruined the ethernet card, does anybody have any ideas?
erjin999
The light will work without the drivers and without Me detecting it.Your misson is to get Me to detect it. Being someone with no experience with Me, I cant help afraid.
gryphon
erjin, if you know Win98 and Win2k you know ME ;). It's just the foundation of 98 with some NT features . . basically the worst thing MS ever made including Microsoft Bob which was even better. And indead you need to get it installed. He might want to try the new release of aida, currently lavasys to see if the hardware is found correctly. Then login with an admin account and search for new hardware. . stuff like that. erjin999
I figured. And I have used it, but skipped installing it cos I could spot it was cack from a mile away (we use imperial here ;)). As for Aida, I didnt know Lavasys did a free version, limited in some way. Or is it only a demo version, time limited or only free for private use ?There us a program, UnknownDeviceIdentifier.exe, which you can use to try to detect your devices, although I admit I havent used it yet.
