I recently bought myself an early christmas gift (my excuse to buy it, anyway), the 10th anniversary edition of the first three installations of Myst. Now, after playing around with the first installation for a bit, I've gotten quite curious of the game. Although it is quite boring, sometimes. Has anyone played the first or other Myst games? Should I press on?

hi acri!

I`ve played myst III exile ages ago.

If you have the patience and like to solve puzzels and have plenty of time , yes press on.

If you want to use your head and see another world, then go ahead. We were two and took 48 hours or the like.

So you're not surprised, I would also mention that Myst II (Riven) is extremely hard compared to Myst I. It is longer and (I think) more intellectually demanding, less trial/error. The majority of people I know who started it never finished (not to say that they necessarily regret buying the game). But to see how this world was built and test your mind is interesting, even if you don't go through it.

Myst looks nice to see what is to think outside the box or be systematic.

yea i played the first myst ages ago i remember it did have some interesting features... such as draining the water from a fountain that exposed a toy ship which exposed a REAL ship by the harbor.  Weird little stuff like that.

But in the end it was rather boring.
