The US has just as many if not more diseases than Canada, yet we don't go closing our border with them.

I don't understand how some US farmers can get a court to ban imports of canadian beef.

Some Americans I've talked to say the deer is infected with Mad Cow in the US and they are afraid to eat meat from big box stores because they have no idea where it comes from. They buy locally.

The US has potato diseases that Canada does not have, but do we close our borders? Nope.

The softwood lumber dispute might get solved in another 30 years...

Hey lets ignore the WTO!  ::)

PEI had to close its borders (no shipment of potatoes to other provinces) when potato wart was found in a small say 10 meter by 10 meter area in one field only. It was temporary, but necessary to keep american government from complaining.

Border closures can happen.
