Thanks, I just wonder where he was from, cos in Danish the word "Landsraad" means something like the national council, so i got the idea he might be form Scandinavia. Do you then know were he got the landsraad or landsr

During writing "Dune" Frank Herbert was studying languages, philosophy, history. Its very possible that he took some words from languages that he learned. Eg. Alia is real Arabic name and Coriolis is from Coriolis force theory about moves of Earth. I don`t know for sure but he could took landsraad from other language as well.

Atreides means "the son of Atreus". It's in Homer's Iliad/Ilion (i dont know which one is correct).

Ordos is a mountain in Africa.

And there are many signs of the Arabic language and culture in the Fremen language and culture.
