I've used the compatibility mode, but this game doesn't work. What can I do?

It goes to desktop just after the Sierra/Relic films, with a text of an error saying: "homeworld.exe has detected a problem and must close." or something like that.

And for graphics options, which is better: Open Gl or D3D?

So, nobody knows? At least someone knows if theres a XP version of this game?

I can run C&C 95 in XP, and I can't Homeworld, thats make me mad.

I tried endlessly, had pages and pages about it on the Homeworld boards, the problem couldn't be solved.  Either it will work easily or it won't work at all.  You seem to fall in the latter category. :-

NOOOOOO!!!!!

There must be a way!!!

- Compatibility mode (Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5):    doesn't work

- Last Patch                                              doesn't work

- Selling my soul to the devil                            doesn't work

I don't know what must I do. But, how can they easily play HW in XP?

I think it probably has something to do with the Service Packs.  I'm not saying it's SP2, because I know some people who avoid it like the plague and still can't play Homeworld.  But I have the original Windows XP Professional... which pisses me off, because there is no USB 2.0 support.  And for reasons outwith my control, I can't get a hold of SP1 to enable it.  Grrr...

But, getting to the point... I can play Homeworld fine on my machine.  If you really want to play it that bad, you could try un-installing whatever Service Packs you have.  Please, don't do this without the OK from a proper techie like Nyar or gryphon... you'd lose a hell of a lot more than USB 2.0 by doing this.

Other than that, I would just keep looking through the help forums and trying out different things. :(
