I want to make a Dune II clone, help!

I want to make a Dune II clone, but I don't know in what language (I have good experience in Visual Basic and moderate experience in C++), how to start and what to do.

Could any of you guys give me a hand or help me out?

you could visit my site (arrakis.dune2k.com) , you can find a gfx pack, and even the sources of my attempts. THe latest attempt of my Dune 2 clone is closed source, but i think this will be a good start. If you want to see the source of another dune clone, you can check out the forum and search for "Dune Legacy".

Okay, I have the resources now. But I need help with actually C++ coding.

learning to code is not that simple. You mostly learn it by just doing it. You will never lose a thing, as you will always win experience. And a at a time, you can write such a game and wonder why it was so hard ;)

If you need a modeller and texturer, I might be interested if your game intends to be like dune 2. I'm a bit of a hardcore fan of the classic, and I hate what they did to Dune 2000 and Emperor.

is dune legacy standalone? or does it use the dune2 engine?

a clone is totally coded from the ground up. So , its using its own engine , not dune 2 itself.
