I ran across several items for those that would like a lag-free pc for Emp.

but are strapped for cash. These are for the most part delivered assembled, and ready to go. 3 Items I found that are a steal for the prices and are not generic or sub standard items that would run Emporer smooth and lag free.

$190.21 U.S. dollars.

Again, I'm not saying this is the top of the line pc, but silly to pass up those prices if someone is in dir need of an upgrade, and don't want to spend alot of cash.

Btw, I chose the ASUS due to the fact that everything assembled by them are always done right, that and from first hand experience using their products.

Good work scarman.

I will get one of these smaller computers next time I change, but will I need nothing to fancy, if it does Emperor, it does for me. This would be a little spec under for my messing around in photoshop, but otherwise, its fine...

I wouldn't buy that. A regular ATX miditower and a better ATX motherboard are as expensive, but better upgradeable. You may even be able to use your old tower.

I'd buy DDR400 memory instead of DDR333. It should be available for the same price.

BTW, you still need a heatsink/fan if you buy a OEM CPU.

These days I tend to keep my computer for so long that by the time I want ot upgrade, I need to replace the CPU, RAM and mobo (and if I now go for SATA drives, my HD's too !). So for me, upgradability is not an issue. I just buy a whole new computer (minus tower, PSU, keyb, ouse, floppy, monitor...maybe grfx card if I play only Emp).

Reusing my old tower is something I have always done, but now I think I dont need to have 3-4 accessable 5.1/4" bays, and all that space inside.

All the AMD CPU's I buy new come with heatsink and fan, although I havent (and probably would) buy a semperon.

Well, I prefer ATX also, but I'm talking about people that need a budget pc and can't afford top o the line parts.

But with such a barebone, you might not be able to upgrade the motberboard, so you'd then need a new case for the next upgrade.

That's why I said the 'better' parts were as cheap/expensive.

BTW, the current OEM HSFs are quite good.

This one is upgradable to an AMD 3000+. as far as the ATX and Micro ATX well it is nothing more than size rather than being a better part or not.

Cases or towers anyway one wants to go with can be bought from around 12 to 40 bucks in most varieties. Micro ATX or ATX either can be upgraded. Just because it's a smaller newer case doesen't mean it's internal capabilities are crappy in any way.

I assumed it was a tiny barebone with a nonstandard motherboard layout. If it's micro ATX, the motherboard can indeed be upgraded/replaced by another micro ATX motherboard, although you're restricted to micro ATX, while a normal tower can house both micro ATX and ATX.

Micro is fine, I want small (nothing to compensate for ;)) and dont mind missing out on normal ATX. In fact I think my Normal sized tower has a micro ATX mobo in there now !
