Dragoon Knight
I downloaded this game last night on the recommendation of one of my flatmates. It runs on Windows and Linux fine, so far. The site is here. The game basically casts you as a member of - yes, you guessed it - the US Army. It's the official US Army game. You have to register your login and email address online, and then your training can begin. Yep... you have to train before you can get any proper gameplay. While this might be appealing to some, most will just find it annoying. Basic Marksmanship is a must, along with other simplistic stuff. The only training I enjoyed was the specialist stuff, like Medic and Special Forces, where you take tests based on what you hear in lectures. It sounds corny and crap, but it's novel, and I liked it.After you've finished the training (which will take you precisely 3 decades - you have to get 36/40 hits on Marksmanship to access the advanced training, and the E and E Special Forces mission will have you running around in the dark for 20 mins, only to get spotted from about 7.6 miles away by some tosser on a bridge), you can begin the real game. Playing online can be fun... but it's boring most of the time.Another thing... once you die, you are dead. No magical respawn. Bang, collapse, dead. End of game for you; wait until the next round. It sucks big floppy donkey. All in all, I'd say that this game is missing quite a lot (such as a Wheel-of-which-damn-country-to-"liberate"-next ;D). It's a bit too serious for my tastes, and the 770MB download (or you can order a free CD, as long as your grandchildren sign for it when it arrives in about 70 years) is a lot to ask for. If you're a hardcore FPS / US Army Fanboy, then get this game. It's honestly not that bad... just not that good, either. ;)
bryorama
I don't recommend it. My computer froze and crashed. Thanks America's Army. Up yours.

bryorama
Try Call of Duty: United Offensive. Or Half-Life 2, or Counterstrike.
