*Sigh* ...

A mace, singular, is a heavy, club-like weapon usually consisting of a metal ball, sometimes with spikes, on the end of a metal stick. The plural of this kind of mace is maces.

The word 'Mace' used as a plural is a chemical spray that is supposed to be extremely painful and irritating to the eyes.

Examples:

"Is that a mace?"

"Yes, there are two maces there."

-This indicates a blunt weapon, since the plural is 'maces.'

"Is that a can of mace?"

"Yes, there are two cans of mace there."

-This indicates a chemical spray, since the plural is 'mace,' (or technically 'cans') and metal objects rarely come in cans.

I have not heard of that chemical gas before. Is it only available to certain countries or something? I have heard a lot of things here (and perhaps other international or maybe predominantly US forums) that I do not hear in Singapore. An example is redneck (which I have no idea of, and I have some idea that it is racist. No offense.)

Also called Pepper Spray and can be bought here at any  corner store.  And yea, there are probably no rednecks in Singapore, for the most part they reside in the southern states here. I think Jerry Springer uses them  exclusively on his show or(brain pollution as I like to call it).
