sound and music, music and sound

I am also new to this forum and recently i have been downloading all my favorite games that i owned when i was younger. I downloaded several copies of Dune 2 from different sources but i can't get both the sound and the music to work. Each copy has one or the other working. I gather from the other messages this is a problem with win xp and there is a program i can download to fix this problem. Can anyone help.

You should look into VDMSound http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound/

Or DOSBox http://www.dosbox.com/

I believe vdmsound is outdated and was actually incorporated into dosbox.

But it could work I guess.

Outdated? It was meant to be just a sound card emulator, so you don't need a full DOS emulator in situations where it's really not necessary. It hasn't been updated in ages, that's true, but IMO that's just because it's finished.
