Harvesters/Carryalls

Does anybody else find it annoying how the carryall takes the harvester anywhere, even its not going very far and you want to squash some infantry?

no, there is a little trick, wich u have to use if u wanna do this.

take some aa-troops and shoot the darn usless carrys from the sky. ur harvs will move now alone.

I've put something in my mod which will stop it instead.

It would be excellent if there was a way to patch that. I am sure it would become a very popular patch.

Yes, you could have a patch for it but both players would be required to have it for online play.  I'm putting it in my mod though.

Why would everyone require it ? I thought that some patches can work independant of other players patches, such as Apo's Zoom-in-and-out-and-change-the-minimap-colour patch...

The problem with mods is that to play online with one, it seems everyone needs to have the mod. Its hard enough getting everyone to have the same maps downloaded, forget mods being downloaded. We are a lazy/uncoordinated bunch..

His mods don't change the rules.txt, if you change it and play against someone who has an unchanged one or a different one, you get an OOS (Out Of Sync) message.

I played around with the rules.txt once...so THATS why I got the OOS ?  :O

Effectively yes you can change the rules without oos if you're careful. :)

Anything that won't cause conflict between rules files.

Well, you could alter a campaign unit and then play multiplayer because that campaign unit will not appear.

You could alter AI speed and play online (without AI) because that routine would never be called into being by the game.

Etc.

but basically what the Newt says satnds for anything that is involved in online play if it is in the rules.txt.

Bah...Shame. But I guess even someone like me, who knows very little about this stuff can understand such a basic idea.
