I have seen "Roger and me" and Michael Moore is sometimes quite amusing.

I have not seen "Fahrenheit 911" but no doubt it's the same provocative, adding nothing to the political debate, adding nothing to the documentary genre.

That can be funny when he targets a political and economical system, however targeting one man is not decent in my opinion.

No man deserves a whole movie against him.

Certainly many things can be criticized in USA politics, but i expect Cannes to be a forum for art, not for anti-Bush political garbage.

It's a clear sign that my country is at an historical lowest level, at least politically and artistically.

But that is the right of free speach. It has to be respected.

But Moore? Well, I think he is a bit of extremist here. He lives in America, yet he doesn't seem to like it.

Then again, if he hates Bush so much, why don't he become a politician himself and try to be perfect and all?

It's a clear sign that my country is at an historical lowest level, at least politically and artistically.

Hehehe, then we have something in common. I've heard that France is very much like Sweden, but I've only been in Paris for 3 days of my life - so I couldn't tell. Anyways, I think we are even lower because of the recent squabble of withdrawing from the European Union and all the fascist laws our beloved "social democratic" government plans to set in motion.

the Cannes film festival has lost a lot of its luster to me. Too much intrusion of hollywood to me.

I loved roger and me, and it really meant a lot that he cared so much for the downtrodden, which I totally agree with on his part.

I did not liek bowling for columbine, as there were a lot of things that he just spun around.

This largely won because it is very popular to be anti war, and frankly I dont blame people that believe in that opinion, but once you capitalize on it or use it as just some ploy for personal social points, then you are foolish to me.

I have to agree with Spice and Cyborg. The man has a right to his opinion and the right to express it, but it is still distasteful to dedicate entire movies to the devaluation of one man. Even if that man has made many mistakes and deserves the criticism, there is a line between criticism and common decency. I have not yet seen the film, so I cannot judge. Perhaps I will have to.

Also, I think France is in quite a good state socially. However, I only spent a week there, so I can't say for sure -- but the people were incredibly nice, the food was the best I've ever tasted, and Paris must be one of the most beautiful and historic cities I've yet seen.

Apparantly so is everyone who disagrees with you...

nice dusty, very nice.

Moore's films are very good and needed if we are to show the ignorant masses the light and steer the maway from Bush who'll destroy this glorious nation which as I speak is becomming not so glorious.

yeah but it shames Cannes. Man my favorite movie won the Golden Palm, The Mission. So many great winners from Cannes have been made, but this is just political dogma, and a waste in such a great forum to judge good film.

Actually, Michael Moore loves the 99% of America that isn't made up of super-rich money-grubbers and their puppets in government.

I'd rather live in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Britain, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, Japan or Canada before I'd even consider moving to the USA.

Well most people would prefer to live in USA than Ireland, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Solvenia, Romania, or Bulgaria, but you're right about the rest.

Tokyo is in Japan, which I already mentioned. Beijing is in China, which is not a very good place to live... And Hong Kong is in itself not a very good place to live. A horribly overcrowded city, an immense gap between rich and poor...

dude, not trying to offend you edric, but I thought you would have a little more intellect than that to defend somebody like michael moore. You sound like a bunch of highschool kids I had to argue. I told them all the spin jobs michael moore did and they would NOT believe it! they really did say he was totally 100 percent without flaw in his documentaries.

that is the biggest bunch of crap ever.lol bowling for columbine is full of inconsistancies that are never noted by anyone.

I loved Roger and Me, and the fact that he is trying to protect the poor, and does a damn good job showing truth. THe problem is when he gets political, it gets a bit sickening because he just feeds into this whole agenda that the elites who are liberal love to hear.

So, Edric, why would you not want to lvie in the United States?

I'm a communist, for God's sake! Why do you think I wouldn't want to live in the USA? :)

But seriously, leaving that aside, the USA is one of the most right-wing nations in the world, and one that treats its poor worse than any other first-world country. Not to mention it has a rather shaky democracy and a civil rights record that used to be reasonably good but is deteriorating rapidly...
